Implement 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 to align the team on a specific problem. This intense, one-week period of product discovery work can help the team focus on validating solutions with real users, leading to valuable insights and alignment on the best approach.

Everyone wants their tasks/features to be given the priority in sprint planning. It’s only normal that everyone wants to enhance & enrich their respective areas in the product. But what’s important here is the growth of product as a whole not a single subset of it. Prioritisation is of utmost importance here because it’s better to build some features that enhances the user journey than to build every possible feature which confuse them.

If you’re in the process of sprint planning, presumably high-level OKRs for the quarter have already been set. It is possible that the company’s direction has changed, so also take the time to (re)communicate what is important for the overall company. Afterwards, prioritize epics based on its expected contribution to the results. I find that this process helps not only align various teams on the goal but makes it easier to track results and hold the group accountable.

For prioritisation I usually use MOSCOW (must have, should have, could have, won’t have). Besides this depending on user feedback and stakeholders urgencies we prioritise the backlog accordingly.

The best thing about working by in Agile scrum is that it is short and we focus on one goal at a time. This helps team to be focused, relaxed and motivated. Something that waterfall sometimes tend to complicate things.

Sprint review and retrospective is the time when team can review their performance and adapt to perform better in the next cycle. Continue what went right and fix what could be done better. This enhances the team and continuous improvement in the team takes place

As part of reflecting and iterating as a team, having retrospectives to discuss issues and improve on them is essential for the team to make progress. Retrospectives should be honest and each member should be given a chance to air their complains or points of improvement. From this discussion, the team can come up with an action plan on how to improve the quality of their delivery.

During the sprint retrospective, focus is put on creating an open and collaborative environment where team members can express their concerns and perspectives on the sprint goals. Facilitating a discussion to identify the root causes of the division, and encouraging the team to collectively reflect on what went well, what didn’t, and what can be improved. These insights help the team members to realign by highlighting shared values, common successes, and the overarching product vision thus having a common objective.

These check-ins provide opportunities for team members to report on their progress, discuss any challenges they're facing, and receive immediate feedback. This is a dedicated time for the team to reflect on the sprint’s successes and areas for improvement.
