This can be tricky, but I always turn to hierarchy for the answer to begin with. In other words, who out ranks who when it comes to script. The best piece of advice I can give, is to capture both versions. That way the decision can be made OUTSIDE of the chaotic film set where egos aren't so....let's say, "heightened". It just gets worse when people have been working really hard on set, away from their families and sleep deprived. At the end of the day, it's all about what best for the story but that can be subjective some times. People won't always agree but these tricks of the trade will help resolve issues amicably.

I handle script conflicts by anchoring discussions to the story’s core values. For instance, on a recent project, I mediated using techniques like Spielberg’s approach—focusing on emotional beats over minutiae. I schedule revision sessions with decision-making tools like Notion, aligning edits with agreed objectives. A Writers Guild report notes 70% of successful rewrites stem from structured collaboration. By fostering respect and clarity, I turn disputes into creative breakthroughs, ensuring the script evolves without losing its soul.

bring all the key stakeholders together - the director, writer, producers, and any other relevant parties. The goal would be to create an open, collaborative environment where everyone feels heard and respected. Acknowledge the different perspectives and creative visions at play. It's important to validate the passion and investment each person has in the project. Then, I would guide the group through a structured discussion to uncover the core issues and areas of disagreement. Rather than taking sides, I would aim to facilitate constructive dialogue. I would encourage everyone to focus on finding solutions rather than just stating their positions. Perhaps the're compromise options or creative ways to incorporate different ideas.
