One thing I found helpful in these situations is proper effective communication with the Client. Even if we lose one change order, it is critical and essential to not lose a client. Another important key is to “document everything”. Make sure the scope is clear between the client and your team so no one deviates from it. There are instances that design team add a feature or something which is not in the scope and eventually leads to scope creep. Finally, the project agreement, specifications and design reports should be reviewed several times to make sure scope and the requirements are well defined, understood, and documented.
