Small biotechs are making gains with AI drug development, and their advantages may help some push ahead without Big Pharma. Instead of spending four to seven years in the discovery and preclinical stage, AI could shorten the timeline to two to three years, according to the report. Clinical development could be only three to five years long, shaved down from the current range of seven to nine. The benefits of speed could help independent biotechs overcome the huge cost challenge of developing new drugs. Between 2022 and 2023, the cost of moving a new drug from discovery to launch averaged $2.3 billion, according to a report from Deloitte. With an 85% compound annual growth rate projected for the global pharma-AI market, the technology will continue to expand its role across the industry. At Deep Space Biology we are excited and optimistic to enter this space with our AI platform, Yotta. By combining over 25 years of space microgravity data with cutting-edge bioinformatics, we’re stepping into drug development with a unique advantage—leveraging space research to unlock new therapies here on Earth. As AI transforms healthcare, smaller players like us have the power to innovate independently and reshape the landscape. The future of medicine is closer than ever. #AI #Biotech #DrugDevelopment #DeepSpaceBiology #SpaceBiotech #HealthcareTransformation #FutureofHealthcare

Excited to share the launch of the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) Multi-Omics for Health and Disease Consortium, with an initial funding of approximately $11 million. This groundbreaking initiative aims to propel the field of multi-omics, combining genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to offer a comprehensive view of human health and disease. The consortium will pave the way for innovative research, defining disease subtypes, identifying biomarkers, and discovering drug targets. By integrating diverse data types from individual biological samples, we can unlock new insights into the molecular and cellular processes that drive health and disease. This holistic approach has the potential to transform clinical research and enhance personalized medicine. Looking forward to the remarkable advancements this consortium will bring to the field of biomedical research!
