It was a privilege to attend Climeworks’ Carbon Removal Summit in Zurich! 🌎 Mary Yap had the honor of sharing the stage with Christoph Gebald, CEO of Climeworks, the world's largest and oldest carbon removal company, and Diego Saez Gil, CEO of Pachama 🌲, to lead a discussion on on how we can combat climate change using durable and innovative methods. Their panel was called “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨: 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳”. With 2024 reported as the hottest year in 100,000 years by Copernicus ECMWF, the need for accurate, fast, and high-quality solutions to combat climate change has never been more critical. Mary spoke on how transparency, scientific rigor, and innovative, Gigaton-scalable pathways are essential to driving this movement and catalyzing carbon removal at large scales. A diverse array of cutting-edge technologies is needed for us to hit global climate targets, and the technologies at the Summit represented some of the best. ⚡ The Climeworks Carbon Removal Summit embodied the exigency with which market innovators should approach climate change. It was a privilege to share our thoughts at this industry-leading event. A big thank you to the Climeworks team for their work shaping the field, and for inviting us! #ClimateAction #CarbonRemoval #CDR #Climeworks #ClimateTech #LithosCarbon #ERW #EnhancedRockWeathering

Exciting news! 🎉 This week, Lithos Carbon has been named a semifinalist for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Historic Carbon Dioxide Removal Purchase Prize! 🏆 The Carbon Dioxide Removal Purchase Pilot Prize represents the first-ever direct CDR purchase by the U.S. Federal Government. 📋🏗 Semifinalists were selected by a team of technical experts at DOE and National Laboratories based on a detailed evaluation of technical, business, operational, and community benefit plan proposals that included input and feedback from domestic communities. 🚀🌎 Lithos is now showcasing our ability to permanently capture CO2 at-scale while competing to be one of 10 winners who will receive a Carbon Credit Purchase Agreement award for the sale of rigorous, high-quality carbon removal services to the Federal government. At Lithos Carbon, we're dedicated to working hand-in-hand with farmers to unlock the potential of high-quality, safe, and nutrient rich Enhanced Rock Weathering for a more resilient future. 🌍 We're proud that our nature-based approach to carbon capture is validated, safe, and trusted by farmers to spread on their land. 🌱👨🌾 As we’ve scaled Lithos' solution, we've invested in community-focused existing infrastructure that surrounds American farming, including local spreading, trucking, quarries, and soil sampling companies. The support from the CDR Purchase Prize will allow us to deepen this impact, further scaling with these crucial partners and supporting the communities they serve. We’re excited to build! Together, we can put climate change on the rocks. 🪨🧱🏗️🌎 Read more in the press release, linked in the comments below. #CDRPurchasePilotPrize

We're thrilled to share that Lithos Carbon has been selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the prestigious #XPRIZECarbonRemoval Competition! 🌎♻️This $100 million global competition, funded by the Musk Foundation, aims to address one of humanity's greatest challenges: rebalancing Earth's carbon cycle. Finalists were rigorously evaluated across three key areas: Operations, Sustainability, and Cost. We're proud to stand out as the only US-based and US-deployed team recognized in the Rocks category. 🪨 At Lithos Carbon, we're passionate about collaborating with generational farmers to harness the power of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) for a sustainable future. Our innovative approach not only permanently removes CO2 from the air but also enhances crop yields and soil health. 🌱🧑🌾 The final stage of the competition will take place over the next year, where we'll demonstrate our capability to efficiently remove thousands of tons of CO2, paving the way for megaton and eventually gigaton scale operations. Thank you to XPRIZE and the MUSK FOUNDATION for this incredible opportunity, and to our dedicated team and partners for their unwavering commitment to our mission! It’s an exciting day for us here at Lithos Carbon - we're thrilled to announce a groundbreaking $57.1 million deal with Frontier Climate! 🎉 Buyers including Stripe, Alphabet Inc., Shopify, McKinsey & Company, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Autodesk, H&M Group, Workday, and Watershed have joined forces to purchase 154,000+ tons of scientifically rigorous, permanent carbon sequestration from us over the next four years. This marks Frontier's largest purchase agreement to date and stands as one of the most significant offtake agreements in the carbon removal market's history. Anticipating delivery of over half these tons by the end of 2025, we're set to achieve a level of carbon removal that is unprecedented across all pathways worldwide. 🌎 This news is a testament to the potential of enhanced rock weathering as one of the world's most scalable carbon removal strategies, bringing benefits to agricultural communities while creating circular economies ♻️ that can scale today. 🪨🌾 We’d like to thank our network of farmer and quarry partners, without whom none of this work would be possible, and Frontier for their support in accelerating scientifically rigorous, vetted CDR. Frontier is announcing $57M of enhanced weathering offtake agreements with Lithos Carbon. Across buyers, this deal will remove 154,240 tons between 2024 and 2028. More than half of these tons are expected to be delivered by the end of 2025. This would be an *order of magnitude more carbon removal* than has been achieved so far across all pathways worldwide. Enhanced weathering accelerates the natural ability of rocks to absorb CO2. While promising, this pathway has attracted few buyers to date due to the difficulty in measuring how much carbon is removed. Lithos tackles that challenge with a new technique that monitors changes in soil chemical profiles as a measure of how much CO2 is removed. The scale of this offtake will generate large amounts of field data across diverse soil types and climate conditions. On top of improving our understanding of enhanced weathering as a pathway, models built on this data may reduce the need for frequent in-field measurement, which will further drive down cost. Let's hear it for the humble, but mighty rocks! https://lnkd.in/grRjth67
