Meet Chef Jondo L., one of our Cafe Chefs at Meta and a member of the Dakota Sioux tribe from the Crow Creek Reservation. Chef Jondo shares “As a chef, we like to share the food that we create and I enjoy that I get to share food that I have an identity with. So, a while back, I started creating indigenous-inspired menus.” From fry bread to a duck confit with Wojapi sauce, Chef Jondo utilizes his culinary skills to connect with his colleagues, celebrate his heritage and open dialogue to learn more about each other. “There’s a lot of room to introduce people to new food ideas or stuff they haven't eaten before and it’s an educational opportunity.” Thank you Chef Jondo for putting such care into the food you create and building space for learning. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #LifeAtMeta
Introducing the Meta for Education Beta Program, with over a dozen colleges and universities across the US and UK. These institutions are testing our new education platform on Meta Quest headsets and providing feedback to help us refine the product for a seamless classroom experience. We’ve also announced some of the first digital “metaversities” in Europe! 🇪🇺 Students and teachers from the University of Leeds, University of Basque Country, and Leibniz Universität Hannover can now participate in live, remote classes in an immersive virtual setting. Why does this matter? ✅ Research shows VR improves learning outcomes—like boosting attendance by 10% and grades by 11% at Morehouse College. ✅ It also unlocks new ways to learn and connect, from virtual field trips to empathy-building experiences. This is just the beginning. We’ll continue partnering with educators to ensure our tools meet the evolving needs of teachers and students alike. This #VeteransDay, we honor our Vets@ Meta employee resource community. When asked what were some key takeaways from their time in service, Johnathan J., Risk Manager, says “Mentoring young sailors and watching them grow both professionally and personally. Guiding them through challenges, helping them set goals, and seeing their confidence build over time was incredibly rewarding.” Amy W., Security Program Manager reflects on how “being adaptable to multiple environments and making decisions with imperfect information when necessary” has helped her thrive in the workplace. For Ernie C. Operations Manager for Data Centers his time in service allowed him to “connect with people from so many different backgrounds was refreshing and helped my personal and professional development.” Thank you Vets@ Meta for your resilience, contributions and for making #LifeatMeta a place where we can build the future of human connection.
