Breaking new ground in revealing the mechanisms of inflammation
About us
TLab is a CLIA-approved and CAP-Accredited high complexity clinical lab providing new levels of microscopic imaging to identify the presence of pathogens in blood and exploring the causes and consequences of inflammatory disease. We have combined advanced molecular probes, staining methods, and confocal laser imaging techniques to discover the causes, mechanisms, and tissue injury resulting from inflammation. If you would like to know more about our tests, please contact us at info@tlabdx.com

'State data also show that most emergency room visits related to tick-borne diseases occur from June to August. But winter’s arrival doesn’t mean we are completely safe from ticks. Adult deer ticks — also known as black-legged ticks — can be active any time temperatures are above 40°F' https://lnkd.in/eY73dUB3

'The incubation period for TBE, the clinical syndrome caused by TBEV, is 7–14 days, with a maximum of 28 days. An estimated two-thirds of human infections with TBEV are asymptomatic' #TickBorneEncephalitis #TBEV #Flavivirus #TickBites #Encephalitis #PublicHealth #InfectiousDiseases #VectorBorneDiseases #TBE #IxodesRicinus #IxodesPersulcatus
NEW TICK-BORNE THREAT: A recent study has confirmed the presence of the tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in the United Kingdom, with the first known cases of human infection acquired domestically. Between 2015 and 2023, a total of 21 cases of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) were diagnosed in the UK, with 12 of these cases occurring between 2022 and 2023. Among those affected were a 28-year-old man who sustained multiple tick bites while walking in Scotland, and a 50-year-old man who was bitten by a tick while mountain biking in a forest in England. While some people who get tick-borne encephalitis experience mild symptoms or nothing at all, the disease can cause severe neurological symptoms, some of which may be fatal. It's important for doctors to consider TBEV as a possible source of unexplained encephalitis. Further research and ongoing monitoring of ticks and animals will help track the virus’s spread and guide prevention strategies. 'Researchers from the University of Minnesota reported that many non-traditional clinics for Lyme disease exist in states where the tick-borne disease is endemic, and the treatments offered at such clinics are often unproven and costly and raise safety concerns.' https://lnkd.in/eiRtggWj

As the bacteria that causes Lyme disease spreads throughout the body, it can cause a wide range of symptoms affecting multiple bodily systems. While some may be more familiar — such as the flu-like symptoms that are common in the early stages of infection — others are less well-known and more likely to be overlooked. Here are some warning signs for everyone to be aware of so that they can get the medical attention they need: https://lnkd.in/e56ZJ9MJ #projectlyme #lyme #tickbornediseases #coinfections #lymediseaseawareness #health #tickbite #medicine #bacteria #multisystemic #symptoms #science
