Unifying Audio Events and LinkedIn Live

Last updated: 1 week ago

We are updating our live event creation experience, bringing together our Audio Events and LinkedIn Live into a single entrypoint.

  • From December 2, 2024, the creation of native Audio Events will no longer be available.

  • If you have an Audio Event scheduled before December 31, 2024, you can host it as usual.

  • If you have an Audio Event scheduled after that date, you must create a new event through LinkedIn Live by December 15, 2024, as the original event will be removed.

Here's how the features will change:

  • Hosting: With LinkedIn Live, you can no longer host an audio-only event natively on LinkedIn. Instead, you broadcast to your audience from one of the trusted third-party streaming partners, learn more here.

  • Interaction: Attendees can comment in real-time to ask questions or add their perspectives at any time. To speak live at an event, speakers need to access the streaming tool of your choice. Please ensure you share the details or invite your speakers before the event.

  • Recording: With LinkedIn Live, the event is recorded automatically and is available to play and share.

Here's how you can create and host an audio-only event using LinkedIn Live:

  1. We recommend reading the LinkedIn Live Overview.

  2. Create an event and select LinkedIn Live as the event format.

  3. To prepare for the live event, select one of the third-party streaming tools and familiarize yourself with the tool. Please visit your streaming tool's website for resources and guides.

  4. Set up a static image in your streaming tool of choice, such as your event cover image, to avoid streaming a blank screen. Failure to add any content will result in an experience that your attendees may perceive as broken.

  5. When it's time for your event, connect the stream to your event.

  6. Monitor the comments on LinkedIn, as comments and reactions posted on other platforms are not shown on LinkedIn.

  7. When the Event finishes, the recording will automatically be available on your profile or page.
