There's a lot of stuff going on, and a lot of ambiguity. We prioritize having a strong, in-person culture in San Francisco for our founding team. We are open to team members who operate remotely on a case-by-case basis. Requirements Experience shipping production code in a language like Typescript, Rust, Python, Go, Solidity Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong sense of ownership Obsession with shipping code with a bias for self-reliance Past work experience spanning Web2 and Web3 systems 4+ years of experience shipping Typescript or Javascript for web based front end applications Comfort shipping code with the following tools: React, NextJS, Tailwind, Wagmi, Viem Hunger for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in crypto today, with a knack for quick iteration Familiarity with design principles and tools About You A solid understanding of engineering principles. You enjoy building and shipping quality, resilient, and dependable services. A sense of grit to dive into a problem and own the implementation of solutions. Possess excellent communication skills for effectively conveying your perspective, ideas, problems, and solutions. A strong sense of ownership and prioritization when navigating the ambiguity of an early-stage startup. A motivation for accelerating the adoption of digital ownership beyond the current limitations of public blockchains. Responsibilities As an engineer, you'll play a critical role in building out our foundational infrastructure in a fast paced startup environment. This will involve researching, designing, and implementing novel engineering solutions related to hybrid onchain/offchain systems. You will ship a lot of code, with the potential to work on things like indexers, databases, smart contracts, cryptography, and APIs all operating at a global scale.

VP Sales tells CEO that EV programs are low volume and company will (1) eat R&D costs, (2) absorb Validation/Testing costs, (3) lose $ on tooling and check fixtures (etc), and (4) must keep the same low margins as high volume programs. ******* WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ******* I want to offer an ALERT for those who are job-seeking or unemployed now in the automotive industry. Forgive the pun and we are heading down the rough road right now. While still having good and well-balanced open roles at our office, we are experiencing a HIGH NUMBER of automotive professionals (mainly those out-of-work and unemployed) who are demanding hybrid and remote automotive opportunities. While this is obviously an individual decision, there is a good chance that this group of professionals is "holding out" for something IDEAL to their situation that simply doesn't exist any longer. I spend the body of the work week communicating directly with those managers and executives who are mainly in the automotive supply base. It's VERY CLEAR now that these companies will not include hybrid and remote for the vast majority of their open roles (with the exception of sales). We have had a great number of candidates who have interviewed and expressed their desires, during the interview, to work mainly hybrid and remote. This, for many companies, is an automatic disqualification. Remember the children's game DUCK DUCK GOOSE? We are now in a period where the music is stopping and there are not enough chairs. Take the buyout or roll the dice on a layoff? After a poor Q2 Stellantis is offering a voluntary buyout to white collar workers across the US. Buyouts are nothing new in the auto industry and Stellantis may not be the only OEM offering buyouts this year. Typically buyouts offered are more than any severance given during a layoff as well. Workers are stuck with a hard decision - take the buyout or take the chance you are not part of the layoff if the numbers don't align after accounting for the buyouts taken. It's unsurprising. It's unsurprising that the US is the sweariest country in the world. I, myself, contribute to that ranking often, full-throatedly and with my thumbs. Within the US, Detroit is the 4th sweariest city. One thing I found dubious - Ann Arbor is ranked as one of the least-sweariest cities in the US...oh, OK. Some facts about swearing: Swearing has been linked to intelligence. Swearing has been linked to honesty. Swearing can help to lower anxiety and depression.
