Does your team measure DSO? "DSO, in simple terms, measures the average number of days it takes for a company to collect payment after a sale is made. In the context of a freight brokerage or 3PL, this metric gauges the efficiency of your credit and collection processes. A lower DSO, which is a positive, is an indication that clients are settling their invoices promptly. Doing so provides organizations with a healthy cash flow, working capital and the ability to invest in key expansion areas of the business.  A high DSO of course means the opposite. 3PL Systems, Inc and our clients were not impacted by the CrowdStrike outage, however... I have some thoughts on companies trying to capitalize on the outage. Touting that your company is up and running while others are/were down due to the single fact that they were using CrowdStrike (or using a third-party service that deploys it) and you were not is tacky. It isn't because you have "advanced environments" or "security protocols" like some are trying to claim as the reason for not being impacted. It is simply because you are not using environments that had CrowdStrike deployed on them that were impacted by the update that went out.

Last post confused some freight agents not understanding revenue vs gross profit, and c2g vs split model. Early at MoLo, sellers were quoting spot loads, leading pricing events, and helping w issue resolution. I had 8-10 people helping my daily operations, plus a large carrier sales team. Eventually, we built an account management team for enterprise accounts. Seller pays for an account manager to come in and run point, manually handling quoting and tender acceptance. If the seller was making 10% commission off the gross profit, seller gave up an additional 2% to bring on an AM, leaving you with 8%. You also have a monthly "hurdle", which is your salary. So if your salary is $50k a year, you needed to hit $50k in GP for that month before you take home commission dollars. In my mind, if I could take more off my plate to focus on sales, I could make up for that 2% loss in the long term. Shoutout to some awesome people that crushed it with me during some wild times! If you are going to pay sales reps good money to acquire new customers You better back it up with just as good, if not better, account management! Especially in the 3PL space. I'm convinced that brands often stay with their 3PL provider not because of the sales rep who brought them on, but those who actively manage the day to day account. Shoutout to the 3PL reps who are responsible for bringing on AND retaining clients. You the real ballers. #3PL #ecommerce

I've been talking with account teams at carriers all week who process hundreds of spot opportunities. Of course, they go from one TMS system to the next looking for the right load. Or, they comb through the countless emails that get sent their way. It's hard to get untethered from the constant monitoring and focus on building relationships with your accounts. Typically when we introduce Manifold Freight the first bit of feedback we get is, "oh, this saves us a lot of time in managing all the TMS's and emails". Then quickly following, the sales manager in me comes out immediately and I reply, "yeah, so you can get back to managing your customer". As I talk with carriers and brokers alike I realize so much time is wasted not doing the most important things.

Engagement is the #1 problem trucking companies face when it comes to health benefits. It feels so hard to get your drivers to sign up and participate in anything… But what I’ve found over the last 4 years of working hands on with dozens of trucking companies is that 2 things normally go wrong. 1. Every single health benefit you offer to your drivers is industry agnostic (not trucking specific) Which really means… they were built for someone who works in a cubicle and handed to your drivers as an afterthought or because “there’s no other options” These programs don’t fit into your driver's lifestyle, they don’t understand the culture of the industry, and they don’t speak our language. So, your drivers smell right through the BS and don’t even try to participate because they know it’s not going to work with their unique lifestyle. If you want to get your drivers engaged, step 1 is to offer a health benefit that was built for their lifestyle and understands trucking. 2. Most health benefits suck at employee marketing… A normal Facebook ad needs to show up on your feed 15-20 times before you click on it and buy it… Why is getting your drivers to engage with a health benefit any different? One email in January and talking about it during open enrollment isn’t going to cut it. We have had the most success marketing Offshift through integrating enrollment opportunities throughout every turn of the lifecycle of a driver at your company (orientation, safety meetings, DOT Physicals, etc) and being a recurring voice internally through channels drivers already use (email, text, ELD messages, driver managers/dispatchers, etc). If you want to reduce risk and low costs associated with drivers' health, you first have to get your drivers engaged. Use these two strategies and be ahead of 99.9% of trucking companies out there! #Offshift
