A few weeks ago, I was at Techstars Los Angeles Accelerator Meeting with a dozen different companies. - I love getting to help people bring their vision to the life. - Seeing their products start as seeds and then become reality. - Building the future in emerging tech or any industry. It always reminds me of the reason I founded First Principles. ↳ To improve the human condition, one product at a time. There can be tough days in the journey for founding teams: - Losing deals you spend hours, weeks, or even months developing. - Investing time testing great ideas only to discover no one cares. - Creating good content no one reads or bad content everyone loves 🙂. - Sacrificing time and focus when with family and friends. But being in a room full of motivated people at the earliest phases of the journey always re-energizes my personal mission. Because nothing feels better than helping others to have an impact on a seemingly intractable problem.

🚀 Diving Into Our Project with CSBA! We’re thrilled to share our latest explainer video for the California School Boards Association, crafted to educate viewers about the role and impact of School Board Members. The video breaks down the duties, election process, and key qualities that make an effective board member. 🎥 Here’s what we did: Told their story: We crafted a compelling narrative that clearly explained the important responsibilities of board members and the value they bring to the community. Brought it to life: Using engaging 2D animation combined with a spokesperson, we made complex information accessible and visually appealing. A spokesperson adds a personal touch, guiding viewers through the content and making it feel more relatable. Made it flow: The result is a video that’s easy to follow, captivating, and designed to hold the viewer’s attention from start to finish. ⬇ Take a look and see how we helped CSBA share their message. Let’s discuss how we can do the same for your organization! #EmployeeEngagement #Onboarding #VideoSolutions #HRInnovation #HR

There are more than a few reasons why life here in Los Angeles is grand but one of them is the inspiration I get from the small but mighty non-profits that continue to make our city better. One is Public Matters, founded by Mike Blockstein and Reanne Estrada. If you want a break from the news cycle, have a look at this article titled "Conspiratorial Joy Lives Here."

Method Schools
California's K-12 public schools are facing significant challenges with declining enrollment driven by factors like the California exodus, shifting housing trends, and declining birth rates. This trend not only impacts funding but also calls for schools to rethink how they connect with families and adapt to a changing demographic landscape. At Method Schools, we believe these challenges also present opportunities for innovation and growth. By understanding the root causes of enrollment declines and listening to the needs of families, schools can create tailored solutions that build trust, foster engagement, and deliver exceptional education experiences. Our latest blog explores these issues and offers insights into how schools can adapt through strategic marketing, community engagement, and innovation. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gcQS2YKD Let’s start the conversation: What strategies do you think schools should adopt to address declining enrollment? Friend Raman Frey is a master at convening interesting people to focus and work on interesting challenges. His latest event is coming up August 9-11 in Northern California. It is the first immersive weekend devoted to learning about circular and regenerative economic practices. We invite you to immerse yourself in nature and community, and to explore how we can consciously and effectively respond to the Earth's call for regeneration. If you find yourself wondering what *you* can do as the full effects of climate change are upon us, I urge to take the first step and come to this multi-day retreat. Retreat Objectives - Gain a basic understanding of the circular and regenerative economics frameworks, which challenge traditional assumptions and explore innovative approaches to a thriving civilization in harmony with a thriving natural world. - Explore the interconnectedness of human society and the earth’s ecosystems in the anthropocene era. Reflect on how your personal transformation can contribute to global regeneration. - Learn simple yet powerful practices to directly experience the regenerative power of nature, fostering a deeper connection with the biosphere. - Acquire strategies for turning eco-anxiety into regenerative action, while promoting mental well-being in the face of environmental challenges. - Develop an action plan for implementing regenerative initiatives in your personal and professional life, with guidance and feedback from experienced facilitators. By the end of the retreat, participants will have gained essential knowledge, skills, and inspiration to contribute to the regeneration of our world. Our response to climate change is an #allhands activity. If nothing else it's prudent to consider what courses of action are available to you, that are within your capability to pursue, and more importantly, to build community with other like-minded people in advance of any action you may need to take. In my early days at Madera Unified, I believed that only numbers mattered. Quantitative data was king, and qualitative feedback felt like fluff. But everything changed when I genuinely embraced the strategic planning process (LCAP) in California. Listening to our community—students, parents, and educators—revealed the true power of qualitative insights as the best leading indicators. After conducting hundreds of focus groups, listening sessions, and empathy interviews, I recognized the immense value of authentic, raw voices. However, gathering this feedback was time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly to scale. Then came a game-changing moment. A chance meeting with Jamin Brazil, a market research visionary, and Estrella Cortez, my assistant from Madera Unified who joined us at Parsec Education, sparked a groundbreaking idea. Why not harness cutting-edge technology to transform feedback collection? By using video, audio, and text submissions, we could capture the authentic voices of our community at scale. And so, Parsec Real was born. #Education #EdTech #Innovation #QualitativeData #ParsecReal

Have you howled with Rahwoo (Ryan) Kudar yet? The fearless founder supporter, San Diego superfan, Padres papa. Ryan is the Managing Director of Techstars San Diego powered by San Diego State University, a name so long we needed a water break in the middle of reading it. But it's one epic partnership. He was one of the main architects helping to bring this program to our fine city. It’s a natural fit; our tech scene is heating up and the addition of an anchor like TechStars only helps the howl. Sure, this program is a pup at only 2 years old, but he’s been sharing his wisdom with founders for years. Did you know that Techstars Anywhere, a program he ran for nearly 8 years, is “headquartered” here in San Diego? Effectively bringing founders' and investors' eyes from across the country (globe?) to our fine city. We do more than surf here! We build startups, and then we surf. As a younger coyote, Ryan worked at tech legends like EcoATM, Yahoo, and eBay. Getting his marketing chops with some of the greats. This coyote can tell a story. Here’s what really warmed my heart. When the Social Coyote was just a tiny pup, Ryan asked what I was up to. Most likely coming off a failed startup, I said, “I've got this little pack and a concept to help SD” not sure I’ve heard a mightier howl! He’s a supporter of builders of all types: tech, science, the written word, and AI coyote generators. Ryan brings powerful energy to this city and such humble, approachable leadership. If I haven’t met him yet, I’d extend a paw and say Howlo. Thank you for all you do for our fine city, Ryan. Howl yeah! -- There are only 2 ways to receive a Custom Coyote Clone: - Be a fearless advocate for our San Diego ecosystem - Invite your pack to leave their dens and join The Social Coyote in the San Diego tech and entrepreneurship community Get connected with the pack here: howl.thesocialcoyote.com

Los Angeles RC
LA's #19Strong community colleges are excited to partner with Mayor Karen Bass and the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board to employ, retain, and advance older workers in LA's growing economy as detailed in the City of Los Angeles' newly released AdvantAGE plan. With private sector employers facing labor shortages and a need for experienced workers in city public agencies, Angelenos 50+ are an important part of our future workforce. We know their learning curves into new careers are shorter and they play a vital role in the mentorship of younger workers. Our colleges are best prepared to give older Angelenos the skills they need to meet the needs of employers as was detailed in community meetings and data shared during the development of the AdvantAGE plan. Acquiring the skills needed to meet these demands can be as simple as finding a college program that is right for you at https://ccla.com/.
