We live more on a URL than in IRL. We have a duty as a digital citizen. On a recent podcast, Manoj Deshpande Neha Deshpande and I discussed digital civics - the rights and duties of a digital citizen, with a strong focus on good behavior and responsibilities. That discussion was all about extracting good civic behaviors from everyday life like being good to your neighbors, keeping your vicinity clean, showing respect, etc., and drawing a parallel to behavior on the internet. [lengthy yet a worthy throwback post] "Innovation is like riding a bus with a clear destination but an unexpected route-- the journey brings new insights and breakthroughs." And you know what? I was indeed travelling in a private bus in China (BACK IN 2009) and stole the time of the rest of the leadership of the then AppLabs. My dear friend Raj Neravati has incidentally retrieved several short videos from his archive this morning and stitched a video on YouTube. Thank you, brother. This was after the acquisition of my second company, #ValueMinds (creators of the bygone #TestersDesk.com). As VP of Innovation at #AppLabs, leading a team of 30+ Engineers and 10+ Test Solution Architects (mostly my students who are very senior players now), I emphasized the importance of "Innovation in Software Testing and QA". Whole of the leadership brought into the ideation. We were in the verge of filing a dozen patents. From "Test Design tools like Pairwise (Combinatorial) Testing" to "Fuzzers for Negative testing on Web Service APIs" to "Predictive Testing using ML Models" to several other topics, I made our one-hour bus journey more interesting than the surroundings :-). We have to see the customer's problem so well that they can see the power of our solution equally well. Continuous Learning - Always seek new knowledge and adapt to changes-- change is inevitable anyway and thars why we test. Collaboration - Foster teamwork and share diverse ideas-- no "me only" acts. Resilience - Embrace failures as learning opportunities-- no crying or hallucinating with your own bs-reasoning. Let not failures in innovation or in personal life delay answers to "What Next?". Colleagues in Testing, what I am doing as the "Leader of #AICoE at #QualiZeal" along with Madhu Murty is what I have done years ago, reimagined with the advancements in #AI (like #GenAI or the vast data we have now for practical #ML. With the advent of #QE practices like the shift-left paradigm, let us keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible in testing. What are your memories from that talk? A recent report from Accenture has predicted that #AI will continue to affect massive change across all industries, with a significant uptick in AI adoption over the next two years.   The report also identified nine percent of those surveyed as “reinventors” – organizations that have completely transformed their business in a short time, with AI at the core of this process. This research echoes my belief that GenAI is driving significant productivity improvements. The challenge is filtering out what’s important and valuable. Is it an experimental project that’s cool and nice-to-have, or a high-value approach that will bring business impact?
