- Let me introduce you to my friend Al. He has a business idea that he's excited to talk through as he's looking for a strategic partner to help him launch a potential business. Hi, Al, thanks so much for coming. - Hi, Jody, thanks for having me. - Happy to have you here. So tell me a little bit, I know you've got this business idea, so why don't you tell me a little bit about the business idea and about yourself? - Yeah, so I graduated college with an acting degree, and I've held various jobs, working at Starbucks, working as a server, I've worked now as a caregiver, and so now my idea is to basically start an improv group using my theater background to connect with neurodiverse special needs individuals and their caregivers and loved ones. - Wow, that's so interesting. Good for you. - Yeah. - So it's really an interesting idea, and Al, it's funny, we all do the same thing, but when I asked you about your business idea and about you, you went directly to your background, right? You started with the fact that you were an actor and that you've worked as a server and then you've worked as a caregiver. The way that is really compelling is if you're talking about a business idea, is to lead by looking forward, and start with your destination. - [Al] Okay. - So if I said to you, right, "Tell me about your business idea," I'd love for you to start first with what your idea actually is. - [Al] Okay. - Your destination, and why it's important to you. Do you think you could think about that for a second, and then let's try it again. - Yeah, yeah, definitely.
