Day in the life of a Recruiter... Last call of the day... Ring. ring. 📞 Joe Pelayo here, how are you! Client: Oh Good, Joe, thought I told you last month we don’t have any new openings for you to work on. Joe Pelayo: If you don't want me calling you every month you shouldn’t be so much fun to talk to! Seriously thank you for all your business this last year or so. What are you working on right now? Client: Same thing Joe. Just sitting in a box checking my stocks. But you know… now that you barged in here… I do have something for you. Closes door. It won’t have the final approval until a week from next Tuesday, but it’s as good as approved, and I’ve got the CEO's go-ahead to get you started. You know how it is here, always moving at a glacial pace. We should start making an offer now, so it’s ready when you find someone. Joe Pelayo: Have you heard the story of the Bridge and the General? It’s quite relevant to this and it comes up all the time in business. Client: Don't think I've heard that one. Joe Pelayo: Well, there were troops training when they came across a raging river. The General turns to his second in command and says, "Number Two, put a bridge across that river." "Yes, Sir," he replies. So, a few days later, the General sees him and checks on the progress, asking if the planners have completed the plans for the bridge. He responds, "No, sir, the bridge is complete, but the plans won’t be ready until a week from next Tuesday." Client: That’s a good one. Hey, I have a call. I'll email you a draft job description by Tuesday. Joe Pelayo: Sounds good. Have a nice weekend.
