At Ignite, Satya just unveiled our sweeping new agentic future for Copilot Workspace. At GitHub, we define agents as AI-assistants that execute tasks automatically at your direction ✅ Developers will soon transition from conversational coding, to constellations of agents for specific tasks. This goes to the heart of Workspace. Copilot Workspace is the most advanced – and the first – agentic IDE. Built right in the GitHub Issue, Workspace deploys five agents to get you all the way to the pull request: Brainstorm. Spec. Plan. Implement. Build/Repair. Below, you can see Build/Repair automatically, well, building and repairing code! Workspace is leaving technical preview and will be product reality *very soon.* It is the future of the IDE and software development. Thomas Dohmke - I love the work that you and your team are doing with GitHub Copilot, but one of the key things that is missing (despite many requests) is telemetry. When can we expect to see telemetry natively in the product so that we can understand our developer experience and productivity when using copilot. Right now developer sentiment analysis and engagement surveys is probably the only thing I can measure (outside of GitHub CoPilot).
I tried copilot in workspace many times, but it couldn't even fix minor issues, I think until you bring the support of sonnet 3.5 into workspace, it will not be useful, IDEs like cursor and windsurf are doing far better job than workspace with copilot
This looks awesome! I’m really excited for the troubleshoot/bug feature. Debugging can take so long, and is so tedious! I think this will really speed up and enhance development. Great stuff coming out of GitHub!
Developers are gradually transitioning from traditional coding to conversational development.
The future of software development is looking revolutionary with Copilot Workspace.
That's a great one. Couldn't wait to play around !
thanks for defining "agent" Thomas Dohmke - helps the conversation in these wild and wooley days.
Thomas Dohmke This is an exciting update! I’m curious about its availability in enterprise settings: • Will Copilot Workspace be accessible for GitHub enterprise users? • If yes, how can organizations enable it, or is there a roadmap for enterprise rollout?

2dAmazing! GitHub’s move toward agentic IDEs with the Copilot workspace highlights a transformative shift in how developers will work, moving from conversational AI tools to autonomous agents that can handle specific tasks across the development lifecycle.
