📢 This week, our Pediatrics Interest Group hosted "The Art of Communicating Across Abilities," providing medical students with a transformative opportunity to engage with patients and families about intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Tchaconas, a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Fellow, shared valuable insights on patient-centered language and transitioning care over a patient’s lifetime. Students were deeply inspired by three families who spoke about Autism Spectrum Disorder and Moebius Syndrome. 💡 These experiences underscore the importance of empathy and communication in healthcare. 🎉 Tonight, January 24th: Addie, one of our remarkable panelists, is hosting "Bouncing for Kindness" to raise awareness for Moebius Syndrome and promote the message that kindness is everything. #MedicalEducation #DisabilityAwareness #KindnessIsEverything #MoebiusSyndrome

And for adolescents, it doesn’t matter if they consciously know that influencers or friends are using filters to promote unrealistic body standards. Dr. Colleen A. Kraft, MD, MBA, FAAP, former President of the American Academy of Pediatrics and current Professor of Pediatrics at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) explains – more with Dr. Kraft is on YouTube and Spotify. https://spoti.fi/40d6Asz #screentimeparenting #parenting #teenmentalhealth #mentalhealth

Reminder: Today is the deadline to take the survey and sign up for an interview. You can help shape the future of education and training of providers who care for young children! The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Provider Education Center (PEC) led by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have teamed up with ASHA to facilitate a survey and key informant interviews to inform things like mentorship programs, grants, mentoring, and digital resources. We need audiologists and SLPs who serve children (0-5 years of age) to help by taking the survey (https://at.asha.org/th) and signing up to be considered for key informant interviews (https://at.asha.org/tg).
