With Google Quantum AI, we’re introducing AlphaQubit: an AI-based system that can more accurately identify errors inside quantum computers. 🖥️ Here’s why this is important. ↓ Certain problems which would take a classical computer billions of years to solve, can be solved by quantum computers in a few hours. The issue? These systems aren’t as reliable as we’d like. Quantum error correction solves this by: ◾Grouping multiple qubits into a single logical qubit. ◾Making consistency checks. ◾Using a decoder to identify and correct errors from those consistency checks. AlphaQubit achieves a new state-of-the-art in decoding accuracy, helping to make quantum computers more reliable. AlphaQubit shows the potential of machine learning approaches in this space. Yesterday I read a post by Microsoft on their work with Atom Computing about their breakthrough with 24 entangled logical qubit and also about detection and corrections. Today we are seeing google introducing AlphaQubit. As investors or technologists ( whatever may be the case) we need to estimate 1. The trajectory quantum computing will take. 2. What kind of scaling we will see with coupling of quantum computing and AI. It is getting extremely difficult to project the technology landscape in say 5 years. It will very interesting to find out what other technologists and investors are thinking in this regards.
