As America faces an anticipated shortage of 3,800 to 13,400 cardiologists by 2034, locum tenens cardiologists are stepping up as a vital resource to fill the void. Known for offering a balanced lifestyle, enhanced income opportunities, and flexible schedules, locum tenens roles are increasingly appealing to cardiologists nationwide. In 2024, we expect several key developments: increased demand in rural areas needing uninterrupted care, the integration of telecardiology to expand service reach, a focus on subspecialization in areas like electrophysiology, adoption of value-based care models aligning with healthcare reforms, and flexible workforce solutions to combat staff burnout and maintain care standards. Learn more about these five trends in cardiology staffing: https://lnkd.in/geHk4wVc #HealthcareTrends #Cardiology #LocumTenens #Telehealth #ValueBasedCare

🎉 Happy International Allied Health Professions Day 🎉 Today, we honour the invaluable contributions of allied health professionals. From physiotherapists and radiographers to speech pathologists and dedicated clinical perfusionists, these healthcare heroes form an integral part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Stronger together, we make a difference. Our allied health workforce is incredibly diverse, providing essential services across a range of settings, from hospitals and private practices to community health and in-home care. Together, we enhance and maintain the functions of our patients, ensuring optimal outcomes. Their expertise and dedication are indispensable in delivering high-quality healthcare. One of the unique aspects of allied health is its ability to support individuals throughout their entire lives, from birth to end-of-life. While many allied health professionals work directly with patients, perfusionists often operate behind the scenes in critical cardiac surgeries. If you or anyone you know has had a cardiac surgery procedure, they have been in the capable hands of a perfusionist, an expert in extracorporeal circulation, who has taken over the functions of their heart and lungs, essentially allowing a cardiothoracic surgeon to perform delicate surgery on a motionless heart in a bloodless field. Without perfusionists, many complex surgeries would simply not be possible. Their expertise and dedication are essential for patient safety and successful outcomes. Let's celebrate the invaluable contributions of perfusionists and all allied health professionals. 📢 🧠 Unlocking the Benefits of Ambulatory EEG (AEEG) with AMS: At AMS, we are dedicated to advancing neurodiagnostic care, and one of our standout services is the Ambulatory EEG (AEEG). This innovative approach to EEG testing offers a host of benefits for both patients and healthcare providers. Why Choose Ambulatory EEG? Well, there's plenty of reasons! 🔹 Comfort and Convenience: AEEG allows patients to undergo EEG monitoring from the comfort of their own homes. This not only reduces the stress associated with hospital visits but also enables patients to go about their daily routines during the study. 🔹 Extended Monitoring: Unlike routine EEGs, Ambulatory EEG provides monitoring over several days. This extended period increases the likelihood of capturing abnormal brain activity, leading to more accurate diagnoses for conditions like epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other neurological issues. 🔹 Top-to-Bottom Excellence: We pride ourselves on a commitment to quality at every step of the Ambulatory EEG process. From our field technologist to our monitoring team to the reading epileptologist, we stay on our 'A' game! 🔹 Patient-Centered Care: AEEG is designed with patient comfort in mind. Our trained technologists ensure a seamless setup and provide support throughout the monitoring period, making the process as smooth as possible. We understand that we act as a representative of you when we interact with patients, and it's a responsibility we take seriously. Ready to experience all of the ways that a reliable AEEG partner can enhance your clinic? Keratoconus is the most common corneal ectatic disorder worldwide. Currently, it accounts for nearly 30-40% of the corneal tertiary referrals, placing significant burden on the ophthalmic services. To address this issue, several innovative measures have been introduced, including the set up of virtual clinics and allied health professional (AHP)-led clinics. In our recently published article in the Eye journal, we highlight the effectiveness, safety and feasibility of AHP-led keratoconus service model (with minimal consultant support) in managing new and follow-up cases of suspected keratoconus. AHPs, including optometrists and nurse practitioners, were able to make the same correct decision as the corneal consultants in 92% of the cases! For more information, please see the link below: https://lnkd.in/eFkCTE6f Thank you Marianthi Bourlaki, MD for driving this work and the BMEC corneal team (Murad Khan, Saliamma Bandyopadhyay, Rashvinder Sahota, Emadur Khan, Urvasee Patel, Mykolas Pajaujis, Anil Aralikatti, Ankur Barua) for the collaborative effort! These interesting findings also spark another debate - should we be focussing on upskilling existing ophthalmic workforce (including AHPs) versus introducing new roles like physician associates into ophthalmic services? What's your thought on this? #keratoconus #cornea #crosslinking #ophthalmology #service #alliedhealthprofessional #physicianassociate
