A few weeks back, I stumbled upon Factor75 while casually browsing. It's a meal delivery platform that specializes in keto and low-carb meals. This got me thinking: What exactly are keto and low-carb meals?
#The_ketogenic diet involves eating very few carbohydrates and replacing them with fat. This switch makes your body burn fat for energy. The results? Weight loss, better energy, and improved overall health.
Coming from a tier 3 city, I found this concept a bit fancy at first. But as I dug deeper, I discovered some interesting insights about the users of these services. The typical customers are people who order from Swiggy and Zomato 3-4 times a week, and working professionals who lack time to cook. The most dedicated users are those who are very careful about their eating habits or are trying to reach specific fitness goals.
I wondered why neither Swiggy nor Zomato India offered these specialized services. But then I learned that they do, in fact, offer keto and low-carb options through partnerships with restaurants that cater to these dietary needs. While this niche market might be small, there's potential for a strong product-market fit. These services are usually chosen by people with disposable income who are willing to pay premium prices for high-quality service.
As I researched further, I came across some homegrown Indian startups like Lo! Food from Bajo Foods, Fooddarzee, and FreshMenu. These companies offer keto meals on a subscription basis, complete with nutritionist-approved meals. They've gone a step further by customizing their offerings based on user goals like weight loss, healthy eating, muscle gain, and diabetes management.
These startups haven't stopped at just meals. They've expanded into other keto-friendly products like flours, namkeens, cookies, chocolates, bread, brownies, and various ready-to-eat items.
What sets these brands apart is their promise to deliver results. They design their meals to meet your protein needs without sacrificing taste. Plus, they offer options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, as well as vegan choices.
So, here's my thought: Why don't Swiggy and Zomato experiment with similar services on a pilot basis? They already have tons of data on people's eating habits, behaviours, and spending patterns. This information could be incredibly valuable. Zomato is already rolling out many user-centric features, so this could be another great service to try. If it doesn't work out, they could always shut it down, just like they did with Zomato Legends.
