Los Angeles is now the third — and largest — US city where passengers can hail Waymo’s self-driving taxi service. It also marks a significant shift in its customer base, which could have rippling effects on the entire autonomous industry. The Waymo One app first launched in Phoenix, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology and then SF, the epicenter of everything tech and innovation. Now it has expanded to LA, which isn’t particularly autonomous-friendly, but could benefit immensely from this option. Starting Tuesday, the self-driving robotaxi service will run throughout LA county and the company has removed its waitlist of 300,000 people. So far, the robotaxi concept has been embraced by some women with safety concerns and parents who use the service for their teenagers. As a parent of teenagers, I know this is something I would definitely consider and feel comfortable using. There’s another demographic to consider — people who are working while in transit and want to take important and confidential calls in private (especially while stuck in LA’s notorious traffic) or just crave some quiet to decompress before tackling the next task of the day. Where do you think Waymo One will expand next? https://lnkd.in/eqNqJ5Qk #waymo #waymoone #robotaxi #waymoLA #LAwaymo #selfdrivingcars #selfdrivingtaxis #autonomousvehicles #AV

Will you be hailing a Waymo robotaxi soon? Starting in early 2025, Uber users in Austin and Atlanta will be able to hail Waymo’s fully autonomous vehicles. This expanded partnership builds on a collaboration in Phoenix, where Waymo’s robotaxis have been available via Uber since late 2023. Waymo is already operating its own autonomous ride-hailing service, which operates in cities like San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, serving around 100,000 trips per week. While a small group of Waymo users will get early access soon, the fleet will gradually scale to hundreds of vehicles. Uber will manage fleet upkeep, while Waymo focuses on testing, operations, and rider support. As the demand for autonomous mobility grows, this partnership signals a continued push toward the future of self-driving transportation. #Autonomous #Taxi #SelfDriving #RideHailing #Mobility #Austin #Atlanta #Innovation #SmartCities

Autonomous driving - the future of mobility? Autonomous driving is one of the most exciting and disruptive innovations of our time. 💡 Developments in this area are being driven by cities such as Hamburg and Oslo. For example, the HEAT project, which has been testing the use of autonomous shuttle buses in public transport, has been running in Hamburg since 2019. Oslo has set itself the goal of becoming a car-free city by 2030 and is strongly promoting local public transport, among other things. In the AVENUE project, the city is testing the integration of autonomous vehicles into local public transport. 🚋 In addition to cities, companies are also important players in the field of autonomous driving. Companies such as Holo, Cruise and Waymo are leading the way in this area. While Holo is the leading implementer, integrator and operator of autonomous vehicles in Scandinavia and is also involved in the project in Oslo, Cruise and Waymo in the USA have already received approval to test their vehicles on public roads without safety drivers, which is an important step for the commercialization of autonomous driving technology. All these examples show: Autonomous driving has the potential to fundamentally change mobility and society in the coming years. We can't wait to see where it will take us. What do you think about autonomous driving? 🤔 #mobility #futureofmobility #autonomousdriving #newmobility #holo #cruise #waymo
