According to a dataset which takes linkedin job posts for data analysts from October - November of 2023 in the USA, for Entry level and Mid-senior level posts, there were a total of 238 jobs posted. 60% of them were remote. However, out of 238 posts, only 23 were for Entry level, and 0% of them were remote. They were all onsite. If this data is reflective of the job market today, then it makes sense why it's so difficult for people to get into the analytical tech industry. Maybe companies should think more about the positions being recruited for, and open up the floor for more entry level and graduate positions. Otherwise companies will only have very few entry level candidates to gain experience and fill the large pool of mid-senior job postings in the future.

Is mass applying for jobs the right strategy? As a recruiter, I have always advised against it. There are many articles on the Internet, saying mass applying for jobs is the right strategy. 🙄 There are even some websites allowing easier mass/bulk application. I had no idea about those! Did you? 🤓 You may think it increases your odds of landing the right job, but it's not the case. 🙅♂️ Sending 100 applications for roles that are completely irrelevant to you won't help your odds. 💁♀️ Sending just a couple for the roles that are right for you - that will. 👨💻 Most companies nowadays use some kind of a system that tracks applications. Recruiters can see how many times you've applied across different roles. Especially if it's a short time window. 🤔 What would they think if you applied once for a project manager and a second time for a data engineer? That you have no idea what you are looking for and you are just mass applying. It's really easy to spot. 👉 I promise your CV and profile will stand out from those bulk ones when you are well-aligned with the job. #recruitment #jobsearch #jobapplicationtips

Think finding the perfect data talent is tough? You’re not alone... Recruiting data talent is tricky. Sure, it’s about technical skills, but here’s what most don’t see coming: 💡 That perfect CV? It might not tell the whole story. Many candidates look amazing on paper. But have you dug deeper into their problem-solving mindset? 👥 Hiring fast, regretting faster. Data projects don’t wait, but rushing to fill a position often leads to hiring someone who doesn’t truly fit. And trust us, replacing them later costs more than you think: time, money, and team morale. 🚨 Unconscious Preferences: The silent team killer. Sometimes, without realizing it, we favor candidates who “feel right” based on limited criteria. The result? You miss out on diverse talent that could bring fresh perspectives and innovation. 🌱 Neglecting Growth Potential In a field like data, yesterday’s skill set can quickly become outdated. Don’t just hire someone who’s good today, hire someone who can evolve with your company, adapt to new challenges, and learn on the job. 🚫 Ignoring Culture Fit It’s easy to focus solely on the technical aspects, but how well does a candidate align with your team’s values? A great skill set doesn’t always mean a great teammate. Make sure they fit the team and the culture you’re building. Hiring data talent isn’t just about checking boxes, it’s about making sure the person can thrive and grow with your team. If you’re facing challenges in your hiring process, let’s talk! #TechTalent #TechRecruitment #DataEngineers #DataAnalysts

Happy #SocialSaturday! Recruiter Tip of the Week: Stand Out on LinkedIn Looking to make your profile work harder for you? Here are a few ways to make it memorable for recruiters: • Polish Your Headline – Skip the generic job title. Add keywords that highlight your strengths, like “Data Analyst | Excel Expert | Turning Data into Insights.” It’s more impactful than a standard title alone. • Engage with Intention – Don’t just scroll through. Comment thoughtfully on industry posts, share articles with your own insights, and celebrate others’ achievements. It shows you’re active and in tune with what matters. • Show Real Results – In your “Experience” section, get specific. Mention projects, metrics, and impact, like “Increased customer satisfaction by 20% through a new support process.” It’s memorable and meaningful. • Use the Featured Section – Think of this as a mini portfolio. Add work samples, standout projects, or notable wins that showcase your strengths. • Be Real – Keep your summary professional yet genuine. Let your personality come through while describing your work and goals. Make LinkedIn your space to reflect your expertise and character. This way, you’re already leaving a lasting impression before any recruiter even reaches out. If you’re hiring for a short-term contract… Stop asking for people who have “longevity on their CV” 🤦♂️ And with data centre and pharma construction in Europe, I think it goes even further than that. Likely, if you’re hiring someone for a project, you only have somewhere between 1-2 years worth of GUARANTEED work for them. Average tenure, depending on who you ask, is somewhere between 2 and 4 years. But if you’re looking at project-based construction, it’s going to be a lot closer to 1-2 years. … which makes sense because that’s how long most of the projects last… So why would you expect someone to have contracts/positions on their CV longer than that period? I get it, if you’re hiring for someone to be based in your office or at home, for a role that isn’t specific to a project, then maybe you’re looking for them to stay longer. That would justify wanting to see them having stayed in one place for longer periods of time before. But if you’ve only got 1-2 years’ work for them, why would you expect them to have stayed longer than that anywhere else? #hiring #datacentre #pharmaceutical
