In The Sales Acceleration Formula, Mark Roberge teaches you to use a weighted scoresheet in your selective process. The screenshot illustrates the exact model Mark shared. Lmk if you want a copy. Behind the redaction are the traits and criteria we determined we need for this role. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman showed that simple models are proven more effective than humans at predicting future performance, time and time again. There's a lot more to it, but I've taken this approach to heart for nearly 10 years to great success. I've also paid the price for ignoring it! While it's just one part of the process, it's a pillar of sorts. Excited about the process Barbara R. and I are running nowadays. Maybe a talk about the process in the future? Ps. We're recruiting for a Brazil-based, Sr. Tech Recruiter with People Business Partner experience. Fluent in 🇺🇸 and 🇧🇷.

Today I saw a job listing for a comms leader who would own PR, AR and social... and the salary range was $110K - $130K a year. It occurred to me that most people don't actually know how much time and effort is required to do even one of these functions extremely well. You need to be able to strategize and execute on multiple different projects — all while managing numerous stakeholders along the way, often times at the c-level. I'm not saying it's impossible to do all of those things well, but I am saying that if you expect someone to do all of those things well, you better pay them for what they're worth. Especially when you think about high visibility results coming out of those functions — like Gartner MQs, Forrester Waves, and tier 1 customer stories — just one of these results could be the deciding factor in a sales cycle. Considering enterprise sales can be in the millions for a single contract, $110K - $130K for someone's entire job for an entire year feels... well, insulting. So all I'm saying is...do better.

💡The Dog that Says Meow Once upon a time, there was an office with a sign in the window. The sign read: “Help wanted. Must type 70 words a minute. Must be computer literate. Must be bilingual. We are an equal opportunity employer.” One day, a dog strolling down the street noticed the sign, walked into the office, and applied for the job. The office manager, taken aback, said, “I can’t hire a dog for this position.” The dog, undeterred, pointed to the line: “We are an equal opportunity employer.” The manager hesitated but handed the dog a letter and said, “Type this.” To everyone’s surprise, the dog trotted over to the typewriter and returned a minute later with the perfectly typed letter. Impressed, the manager challenged the dog further: “Write a computer program for it and run it.” Fifteen minutes later, the dog returned, having successfully completed the task. Still skeptical, the manager said, “But I can’t hire a dog for this position. You’ve got to be bilingual.” The dog looked up at the manager and confidently replied, “Meow.” Moral Lesson for a Sales Team: Embrace Diversity: As an employer, recognize that talent comes in all shapes and sizes. Anyone can become a highly successful sales rep given the chance. If someone meets all requirements and seeks an opportunity, give them a chance. Be Prepared: As a sales professional, be ready for anything. Strive to be the best in your field. Whether it’s reading sales manuals, attending webinars, or mastering high-pressure sales tactics, go the extra mile to excel. Remember, success often comes from unexpected places. Just like the dog that said “meow,” your team members can surprise you with their abilities when given the opportunity. #Diversity #Motivation

Here are ✨ 4 skills ✨ I look for in applicants who apply for a sales role. What would you add? 🤔 1️⃣ Enthusiasm! Attitude counts for an awful lot, and when I speak to an applicant who is brimming with positive, can-do attitude, believe me, it is contagious! 2️⃣ The ability to articulate success. I want to hear about your successes and how you achieved them. The more specific, the better! Your answer should demonstrate strategic thinking skills, ability to execute a plan, and a focus on results. 3️⃣ Prioritization and time-management skills. Share with me your systems for organizing your day, territory, and efforts. Mention time-blocking and you'll have my heart ❤️. 4️⃣ Curiosity! The best reps are insatiably curious about their customers' businesses, their organization, the industry, success stories, and more. The more they know, the more they can mobilize resources to realize greater success. I'm eager to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
