Thank you, John Engel, for hosting a great webinar with utility experts on how #AI is advancing wildfire prevention and mitigation. The discussion highlighted the crucial role advanced technology can play and the cost-effectiveness and speed at which it can be deployed. As Andrew Abranches shared, we currently work closely with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, other utilities, fire agencies, and additional partners across California and 7 other states to help enhance situational awareness and accelerate wildfire response. With over 1,400 AI-driven cameras deployed, ALERTWest enables faster fire detection—often before 911 in remote areas—and provides precise location data. Real-time camera control allows visual confirmation of new ignitions within seconds, enabling more informed resource allocations when minutes matter. Andy also mentioned our brand-new camera solution that was designed with the budgets of smaller municipal utilities and cooperatives in mind. This system provides similar functionality to our current camera solution but at 3-5x lower cost and it can be quickly installed on infrastructure with minimal to no permitting—often within just a few hours. With our intellectual property (IP), we are doing what ChatGPT, an icon of AI, can NOT do. Without metadata, especially multilingual metadata, NO multilingual data can be found/retrieved for intelligence analysis, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., even by the most advanced technologies, like AI, quantum computers, etc. https://lnkd.in/g-aJFnXR When we used the following questions to test ChatGPT, the experiment results showed that it can NOT answer them, while we can, with our IP; for example, a pure English question like: "Who, in England of UK, has new US patents granted on February 20, 2024?" or a Chinese-English multilingual question like: "Who, in the '湖北' province of mainland China, has new US patents granted on February 20, 2024?" Our IP is a copyrighted multilingual metadata. It can distill real time (2024.02.20) information about US patent holding/holder, based on the multilingual census geographical locations of Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Middle East (Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE) and Europe (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, UK).

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Traffic Safety

Technology is amazing, until it breaks down! 😤 As a firefighter, I've seen firsthand how even the most advanced systems can malfunction. In my town, we have tens of thousands of fire detectors to prepare us for the worst. While they're meant to alert us of danger, they can often go off for something as minor as a cigarette or burnt toast - or like today just because the tech is flawed! But what happens when the technology fails us? That's what I experienced firsthand at 2am this morning. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it made me realize that relying solely on technology isn't the answer. Instead, we need to embrace copiloting with artificial intelligence 🤖 to create a winning combination that allows us to respond more efficiently to emergencies. Despite the malfunction, I still believe in the power of technology. Our fire detectors have already saved countless lives by alerting us to fires earlier and helping us better prepare. As we continue to develop new technology, such as generative AI, I'm excited to see where this path leads us in the coming years.
