🌍 What happens when curiosity meets opportunity? You build a career that spans continents, industries, and cultures – and for Markus, it all started at IBM. 🌍 During Markus' dual-study program at IBM Germany, he rotated through Analytics, Project Management, and Consulting roles. But the moment that changed everything was when he worked in Shanghai, China on automating marketing performance reports that would cut manual effort drastically. That was the first time Markus saw how data could transform decisions. Walking into IBM’s Jinmao Tower office 🇨🇳, surrounded by colleagues from dozens of nationalities, he felt the power of global collaboration. That experience shaped how Markus leads and thinks to this day – but how? He says IBM taught him to think in systems, communicate across disciplines, and always link technology to business value. These lessons have guided him through roles at world-renowned automobile manufacturing companies, and now as a global advisor in Digital Transformation for his own consulting practice. "Today, I’m proud to have co-founded a successful consulting practice in the U.S., and even more proud to mentor others and build high-performing teams. A career in tech AND luxury retail? KeAndra’s journey proves it’s possible. 👏 Her IBM story began in 2018. From her very first role in the Summit Program, she jumped right in: helping clients, managing renewals, and improving onboarding, so others had a smoother start. But after a few years, curiosity called. She wanted to explore new paths and grow in new ways. 🌍 She thrived as a personal stylist at a high-end brand, applying tech-driven sales skills to build lasting client relationships. "The skills I gained at IBM translated seamlessly. I used digital tools, tailored sales cycles, and consultative techniques to create meaningful experiences," KeAndra says. Still, something was missing. “I left to explore,” she explains, “but returning has felt right. I feel more aligned with my values, work ethic and goals.” 💫 Now she’s back: stronger, clearer, and more confident than ever. What do a signed baseball and a high-performing sales team have in common? ⚾ In his first chapter at IBM, Shannon led a mix of new grads, moms returning to work, and sales pros learning tech. They worked hard, learned fast, and crushed their goals. To celebrate, Shannon brought in a pro pitcher to talk about high velocity. "Everyone on the team signed a baseball. It’s one of my most cherished items. Every time I see it, I think of the team and what we achieved together," he says. ⏩ Years later, a call from a former teammate changed everything. She told him about IBM’s new direction. Shannon was curious. That same day, a manager called, and soon he was back. ⚙️ Now, as a Technology Sales Leader, Shannon helps clients move faster with infrastructure, storage, data, security, cloud, automation, and AI. After her internship, she studied abroad, learned Spanish, and became a certified fitness instructor. Why did Sandeep return to IBM after years away? For him, it was the chance to create impact and stay at the forefront of innovation. He fondly remembers his first IBM chapter as one that was unforgettable. He was leading a digitization journey for a Singaporean bank, and that taught him resilience, collaboration, and the power of technology. After leaving IBM, Sandeep applied those skills in the IT industry, driving transformation for major clients. When IBM offered him the role of a Customer Success Manager – Technical Architect, he knew it was the right move. Cat memes brought them together. 😻 When Szabina returned to IBM in Budapest, she didn’t expect to find a kindred spirit, or someone who loved cats (and coffee ☕) as much as she did. That someone was Alex. Two IBM Alumni who found their way back, both now thriving in Talent Attraction. Szabina first returned as a recruiter, then got promoted to manage a team of recruiters, and now she is a Strategy & Transformation Lead. While Alex, after exploring sales support and finance, rediscovered her spark in Talent Acquisition. “I had no idea what I wanted to do,” Alex laughs. “But IBM let me explore until I found my place.” Szabina says: “Coming back was a dream come true. ✨Curious about why someone would come back to IBM after about 20 years? When Sandi joined IBM in 1997, she had 14 years in tech, mostly in hardware. Moving into enterprise software with Tivoli Systems (now IBM) opened a new chapter of new skills and a more broad perspective. She later managed a speaker program for Tivoli experts and worked on content strategy with brilliant minds, including a rising star named Arvind Krishna, now IBM's CEO. Those years taught Sandi the power of storytelling and building awareness for innovation. Even after leaving IBM, she worked with an agency behind IBM’s corporate events – mentoring others on IBM's culture, products but also gaining fresh perspectives. 💙 So what brought Sandi back after nearly 20 years? The IBMers. The culture. The curiosity. And the thrill of helping shape IBM’s future in the age of AI. What a night at IBM’s One Madison flagship office! 🌃 What started as a simple idea—invite a few former colleagues, share some refreshments, and reconnect—quickly grew into a vibrant evening celebrating legacy, innovation, and community. 3 things we learned: 🤝 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗕𝗠𝗲𝗿𝘀. This started small and quickly took on a life of its own growing to 150 attendees. 🤔 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞. Many Alumni wanted to visit the One Madison office in NYC and tour the IBM Innovation Studio, a place where we lead clients from inspiration to action. 🥁 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.
