Detroit natives, Nathan Peck and Kristen Calverley opened Michigan & Trumbull at Federal Galley in Pittsburgh, December 2017. The project came about as a result of their move to Pittsburgh. The pair could not find pizza that reminded them of home. So, they started making the square, deep dish pizza for themselves. after months of positive feedback from friends and family they decided to apply for a spot at the Pittsburgh restaurant accelerator food hall. During their time with the galley group they established a reputation for innovative pizzas that elevated their authentic Detroit-style crust.
January 23, 2020 they returned home to open their own brick and mortar restaurant in Corktown, adjacent to the namesake intersection at Michigan and Trumbull avenue. Eventually moving to the “Dreamtroit”development at 1331 Holden St. in the Fall of 2023.
