This document provides a template for a lab report on an experiment investigating how changing an independent variable affects a dependent variable. The template includes sections for purpose, prediction/background, materials, procedure, data and observations, analysis of data, verbal and algebraic representations of results, conclusion, reflection, and acknowledgements. The student is to fill in the details of their own experiment and analysis in the template following this prescribed format.

Instructions (erase this before submitting): Use the following template to structure your lab report. You may simply replace the information with your information. To convert a LinReg graph to an image I have created a short screencast (this can also be found on the class page): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB9eCRUImgE

Talk about what the 5% rule does here CONCLUSION: Your conclusion should consist of a high quality (simple concise language) written explanation of model representations discovered in lab. This is written in paragraph form. The meat of the conclusion will consist of you supporting your groups model with the evidence collected below. How was your model consistent with a) the data, b) the observations, c) the graphs, d) the algebraic representation (talk about what the slope and y-int means, include the 5%rule, account for any deviations in your data from the best-fit line in concrete terms), e) the diagrammatic representations? Answer the question Do you accept or reject your prediction? Why? Discuss the class consensus model. REFLECTION: (it should be related to class and why it is important, written in 1st person paragraphs) 1. What did you learn? Why is that important? What is the scientific significance of the models? How does that relate to class? (application to society) 2. What would you do differently next time? Why? (if you mention errors be specific about what caused the errors) Acknowledgements/Ownership: 1. Resources used: Be sure to list resources used (textbooks, people, internet, etc.) I acknowledge that the above information is my own.
