Microsoft PowerPoint is a popular presentation program developed for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS computer operating systems. It is widely used by businesspeople, educators, and trainers. According to Microsoft 30 million PowerPoint presentations are made every day

1). Click on the start button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. 2). At the top of the start menu it says New Office Document. Click this. In the new menu, double-click on Blank Presentation

Now click on the

icon in the top right-hand side of the screen, next to the 'New Slide' icon

Choose one of the designs from the selection (Slide Designs)

By default there are 25 different designs to choose from

Now click on the

icon in the Slide Design window, underneath the Design Templates icon

You will be given a choice of between 6 and 12 different colour on depending schemes the slide design you have chosen Now choose a colour scheme!

Now do as it says in the text box on your screen 'Click to add title' For this tutorial type ....'s Presentation

When you click on the slide outside the Text Box, the Text Box border disappears To make the Text Box border appear again just click on the text

Changing Text Box properties
The border of the Text Box is shaded with diagonal lines. This means the Text Box is in Text Writing Mode If you put your mouse over the Text Box border, notice that the cursor changes to a four-arrowed cross like this: Put your mouse over the Text Box border and click once. The shading of the border will become dotted. This means the Text Box is in Change Properties Mode To get back into Text Writing Mode just click on the text in the Text Box

Now make sure that your Text Box is in Change Properties Mode i.e. dotted border shading

Change the following font properties by clicking on the icons in the Standard toolbar at the top of the screen (similar to the ones in Microsoft Word) Font Style Font Size Font Colour

At the corners of the Text Box and at the mid-points of the lines there are white dots. dots If you put your mouse over these dots the cursor changes into a doublearrowed line

When the double-arrowed cursor appears press the mouse button and hold it down. The cursor will change into a cross

Drag the mouse in the directions the double-arrowed line points (Note: the easiest way to change the size of the whole Text Box is to drag the white dots on the corners diagonally)

To move the Text Box put your mouse over the border so that the four-arrowed cross appears Then press the mouse button and hold it down

Drag the Text Box to where you want it on the slide and release the mouse button

Delete the Click to add subtitle' Text Box by going into Change Properties Mode (dotted border shading) and pressing Delete on your keyboard

Now create a new slide by clicking on

This time choose the blank slide option in the Contents Layouts Next you can make your own Text Box

Click on the Text Box icon

on the Drawing toolbar at the bottom of the screen

Notice that when you put the mouse cursor over the slide, it changes to an upside down cross

Click once to create a Text Box

Be careful not to click on anything else before you write anything, or the Text Box may disappear For todays presentation type My Country

Change the properties of the Text Box and move it in the same way as you did for

On the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen you will see an Explorer window called Maps & Flags

Click on this folder to open it

Now pick a country and double-click on the folder to open it There are two images in the folder: a map a flag Click once on the map image file and press the Control Key (Ctrl) + C on your keyboard

Now go back into PowerPoint


(maximize it again from the Taskbar)

Press the Control Key (Ctrl) + V on your keyboard and the image should appear on your slide Drag the image to where you want it on the slide

Now go through the same process with the flag image


(copy & paste it onto your slide)

When you're done

First go back to Slide 1 by clicking on the slide view on the left

To get out of Full Screen Mode press the Escape Key (Esc) on your keyboard

Copying images from the Internet Now maximize Internet Explorer (see the Taskbar)

Use Google Image to find a picture representing one of your hobbies

Copying images from the Internet When you find an image that you like click on it with the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON A menu will appear like this: Click on Copy

Copying images from the Internet Now go back to Slide 3 in your presentation Click on the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON again This time a different menu will appear like this: Click on Paste Your image will appear on the slide

Now COPY & PASTE more images onto Slide 3


When you've finished, go back to Slide 1

Notice the list of different effects in the Slide Transition panel Click on a few to see them demonstrated

Notice that the Slide Transition effects alter the way the slide appears on the screen

When you've finished, go back to Slide 2

Now add Slide Transition effects to all three of your slides

When you put your mouse over Entrance a selection of animation effects appears Click on one of the effects to apply it to your image You will see the effect demonstrated

To change an effect first click once on the effect logged in the Custom Animation panel

You can also add animation effects to Text Boxes in the same way Now add animation effects to as many objects in your slide show as you like
