Selected Monologue Assignment

Assignment:
You will select, rehearse and perform a 1-2 minute monologue
o Scene should allow flexibility to explore characterization through voice,
movement and script analysis.
Must use expressions in voice and body to show character
Select a monologue that encourages movement (more than sitting or
standing)
Must complete a character profile of your character

o 2 choices:
If you would like to perform a monologue of your choosing, you must
find the monologue on your own time. Submit monologue for approval
tomorrow: Wednesday March 25
th
2014
OR
You can select one of the provided monologues.

You will have Thursdays class to analyze and rehearse monologue
Performance will take place in class on a Friday

After each performance you will be required to give oral feedback to your classmates.
You will also receive oral feedback from classmates and teachers.
o When giving feedback, be prepared to justify your comments.

Check list:
I have selected a monologue that is 1-2 minutes long

I have gathered all the information I can about my character from the
monologue

I understand my character and I know what they want

I am effectively using movement and voice to enhance characterization

I have memorized the monologue and am ready to perform for the class


Materials:
Students are allowed to use 1 prop, or set pieces found in class.

Assistance:
I will be walking around during class, giving feedback, making suggestions and
asking/answering questions.

Due Date: This assignment is to be presented on FRIDAY, _______________, 20__.
