To disable Java auto-update option

For Windows XP
1) Start -> Control Panel -> double click on the Java icon



2) Click on the Update tab, and then uncheck Check for Updates Automatically. If there is no
Update tab in the Java control panel, it means the auto-update feature is off (It could be turned
off during installation or due to some other reasons). If this is the case, you do not need to do
anything.

3) The following message will pop up. Click on Never Check. And then click Apply and OK.





4) If you reopen the Java Control Panel (refer step 1), under update tab you should see the Check
for Updates Automatically is unchecked.


5) Done
For Windows 7
1) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin.










2) Right click on the file javacpl.exe and click on Run as Administrator.

3) Click on the Update tab, and then uncheck Check for Updates Automatically. If there is no
Update tab in the Java control panel, it means the auto-update feature is off (It could be turned

anything.
