Career Research Project
Due: Friday, October 3, 2014
Introduction For the end of this quarter you will be researching a career of your choice. You will be completing a resume geared toward this career, a plan on how to achieve this career, and presenting your findings to the class. We will be visiting computer labs, but you will need to complete some of the research on your own. This is a two week long project. It is a three part project with multiple due dates.
Requirements Part 1: Resume
You will be completing a resume. There is a template provided that you can work off of or you can create your own. You must tailor your resume to the career you are working toward for this project. The template is attached to this project.
Part 2: Action Plan
You will be creating a map of how you will achieve your career goal. There is a template provided that you will fill out; this is a detailed map to help you apply the steps you need to take in order to accomplish your career goal. The template is attached to this project.
Part 3: Research Paper
You will be writing a paper on your career findings. This is a research paper and must be written in MLA format. Even though you are researching a career you are interested in, you should not use the first person in your paper. It must be at least two pages long. Include your references and a bibliography at the end. Check the resource on the RHS student resource page or your CORE packet for more guidelines on MLA format.
Part 4: Class Presentation
You will be researching a career that is of interest to you. Using your research and your action plan you will present your career choice to the class. You must have some visual aspect (poster, power point, brochure, etc.) to help present your career. Your presentation must be at least 5 minutes. Make sure you speak clearly, loudly, and face the class. You will be presenting your careers in quarter 2, but all materials are due the end of quarter 1 (October 3).
