Project 2

The student teacher organized a project to connect the kindergarten classes at her school. She had each student trace and color their handprints, then used the prints to create four flowers and display them with the title "Kindergarten is Blooming Together." This helped the students get to know each other and highlighted the importance of partnership and community between classes. Her cooperating teacher supported the idea of uniting the kindergarten students through a collaborative project.

CONNECTING AND

PARTNERING WITH
OTHER CLASSROOMS
IN THE SCHOOL
BY: BAILEY FERN

THE PROJECT
During my student teaching in Kindergarten, I decided to
connect and partner with the other classrooms and teachers
in Kindergarten. To help me get to know and learn more
about the relationships between my students and their
peers I decided to bring the entire Kindergarten together
and complete a project for the showcase in the front
hallway for the entire school and the parents to see. I
decided to complete this project because I believe that it is
important to have a united school with both the students
and the teachers. Connecting the students in Kindergarten
is a great way to start!
When talking with my cooperating teacher about this idea,
she was very supportive and encouraging. She understood
why I wanted to partner with the other Kindergarten classes
to complete this project and connect the students together.

WHAT DID I DO?

Here is a picture of the showcase I
created.

WHAT DID I EXPERIENCE?

I united and brought together each of the four
Kindergarten classes to complete a showcase for the
front hallway of the school.
Each student traced their hand prints and colored
them however they wanted using bright and vibrant
colors. It was exciting to see the diversity and
uniqueness of the students and how they decided to
color their hand prints.
I then made four diff erent fl owers using their
handprints. I titled the showcase Kindergarten is
Blooming Together! I gave it this title because I think
it is important to work and collaborate together.
