Modeling
1. Teacher will explain the
lesson and state the
objective.
2. Teacher will show
slideshow to access prior
knowledge and spark an
interest in students.
3. Explain that students will
read from textbook using the
triangle method. This will
require dividing students in
groups. Teacher will model
this process using two
students to show how they
will take turns reading a
section of text and then the
role of each student in the
group.

Checking for Understanding

1. Teacher will ask the
definition of above mentioned
vocabulary words. If students
are unable to give definition,
word will be written on the
board and filled in at the end
of the lesson.
2. Use the questions listed
in Slideshow.
3. Teacher will pass out quiz

the end of the lesson.

designated speaker for the

end of the lesson.

Guided
Practice:

Teacher will model what is expected of students for both independent work
as well as the group participation. Teacher will explain how long the groups
will have to read the content and come up with questions during the
modeling example. During the speaking part of the lesson by students, it
would be suggested that notes could be taken to gain knowledge of content
area from each section of text as each group will be assigned a certain
section of text to read

Independent
Practice:

After students have participated in the introduction of the lesson and

understand the objective of lesson, students will be given a short quiz to
check for understanding. To be considered mastery of content covered,
student will need to score 7/10

Closure:

After students are given allotted time for lesson teacher will have students go
back to seats and have a quick question/answer session to explain any
vocabulary that was not understood and take-backs from each group. Quiz
will be given and teacher will grade after the class period. Make sure all
students raise their hand before talking.

Self
Reflection:

1. Describe how you think the lesson went? 2 specific reasons

for your response.
-The lesson went well because of the time spent getting the materials
gathered and the knowledge of the content I was teaching.
2. Describe one thing that surprised you about your lesson?
-That not all students have the same interest in History as I do!
3. Describe one thing you would do differently?
-I could have done a better job of asking more questions at the beginning of
the lesson to help them really understand what they would be getting asked
during the informal assessment piece. (ie..quiz)
4. Describe one thing you learned about teaching. (specific example)
-I learned that even when you think you have covered everything well, there
is probably still someone that still doesnt understand and that I have to
make sure I have multiple ways of explaining what I want out of the
students/class. I also learned that I should be louder so the students can
hear me, specifically the ones who are sitting in the back of the classroom.
