Math Worksheet-Graphing of Functions
Math Worksheet-Graphing of Functions
• The graph of a function f is the collection of all ordered pairs (x, f(x)). In
particular, if x is a real number, graph means the graphical representation of this
collection, in the form of a curve on a Cartesian plane, together with Cartesian
axes
• The graph of a function is the set of all points whose co-ordinates (x, y) satisfy
the function y = f(x). This means that for each x-value there is a corresponding y-
value which is obtained when we substitute into the expression for f(x).
• The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs (x, f(x)), where x is in the
domain of f and y = f(x).
• Since there is no limit to the possible number of points for the graph of the
function, we will follow this procedure at first:
A man who is 2 m tall throws a ball straight up and its height at time t (in s) is given
byh = 2 + 9t - 4.9t2 m. Graph the function.
x 0 0.5 1 1.5 2
Example 2:
Solve the function f(x) = 3x2 - 4 and plot the x and y axis value of the given function f (x).
Solution:
Given:
F(x) = 3x2 - 4
We take f(x) value as y. so the given equation is
3x2 – y - 4 = 0
In the next step we are going to equate the above equation with respect to x we get
3x2 = y + 4
In the next step we are going to divide the above equation in the value of -1. We get
3x2 = -y - 4
y = 3x2 – 4
From equation (1) we get the following values
x -2 -1 0 1
y 8 -1 -4 -1
