Exercise #1: Practice creating a greeting card.

Open Microsoft Publisher by Double Clicking the Microsoft Publisher icon on the desktop or Click the Start Button in the lower left corner of the screen followed by All Programs, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Office Publisher 2003. 2. Click Publications for Print in the New Publications task pane.

Click Greeting Cards in the category list that appears. Click Birthday from the category list of greeting cards that appears. Click on the Birthday #27 design option from the thumbnail images that appear. Click on Page Options in the task pane. Click Quarter-page Side Fold option.

Right Click the picture and choose Change Picture, followed by Clip Art from the menus that appear. Type Birthday Cake in the search edit box in the task pane and click the Go button.

Locate the image below and click the image one time. Click on Color Schemes in the task pane. Click on Tidepool from the list of color schemes. Click on Font Schemes in the task pane. Click on Fusion-French Script-Calisto from the list of font scheme options.

Click on page 2 and 3 in the Status Bar to view pages 2 and 3 of the publication.

Click on Greeting Card Options in the task pane. Click on Select a Suggested Verse in the task pane.

Click on May this Birthday from the list of available messages and Click the OK button.

Click on the dotted purple box.

Use the resizing handles (small circles) located around the image to resize the image to the desired size.

Do the same for the decorative star. Click on Page 4 and click once in the empty box and type your name.

Click on File and choose New

Click Publications for Print in the New Publications task pane. Click Calendars in the category list that appears.

Click on the Eclipse Calendar design option from the thumbnail images that appear.

Click on Color Schemes in the task pane. Click on Cranberry from the list of color schemes. Click on Calendar Options and under Month or Year click on Change date range Choose April 2008 for both start and end date Increase the Zoom level to 100%. Select the Company text place holder and type: Community Center.

Select the address text place holder and type: 402 West Blvd. Press the Enter key and type: Small Town, IN 47190.

Select the phone number text place holder and type: 777-252-3636. Select the fax number text place holder and type: 777-252-3939.

Select the e-mail address text place holder and type: communitycenter@myisp.net. Highlight Community Center Text and change font size to 12. Do the same for address information (text boxes will have to be resized)

Highlight Phone/Email text and change font size to 11. Make the email address italicized by clicking on the I next to the font size.

Click on the logo picture and press the Delete key on the keyboard. Do the same for the Business Tag Line text box.
