Assignment No. & Assignment 2 of 3 - Dynamic Engineering Title: The purpose of this assignment is to (list learning outcomes):LO1 2.1Determine the behaviour of dynamic mechanical systems in which uniform acceleration is present 2.2Determine the effects of energy transfer in mechanical systems 2.3Determine the behaviour of oscillating mechanical systems . Scenario:

A company made an interview for the post of electric engineer to test his abilities. As a second round of the interview the candidates has to take a written test in dynamic engineering. The candidates had to perform the following tasks.
Task1: Assessment criteria LO2.1 A lift is accelerated from rest to 3m/s at a rate of 1.5m/sec 2. It then moves at constant velocity for 8 seconds and then decelerates to rest at 1.2 m/sec 2 .Draw the velocity time graph and deduce the distance travelled average velocity during the journey.?

Task2:Assessment criteria LO2.1 A drum with a mass of M kg, radius r mm and radius of gyration of K mm has a rope of negligible mass wrapped around it and attached to a load of 20kg .Determine the angular acceleration of the drum when the load is released. Fig: 1
