Geometry Round Up Lesson

The lesson plan has students identify and photograph various geometric shapes and angles found around their school. They will then create a PowerPoint presentation labeling the shapes in each photo. The goals are for students to learn to identify angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, and draw shapes from descriptions. Students work collaboratively in groups to find shapes, take photos, and create the PowerPoint. They are assessed on correctly identifying shapes and on group participation skills like time management.

supplementary and provide descriptions of each term.
 MG 2.3 Draw quadrilaterals and triangles from given
information.

Learning Targets:
 Students will be able to identify and create angles.

Student Task Description:
What real or simulated problem will the students address? What useful products, events or
services will the students produce? What audience might benefit from the student’s work?

Everyday as you walk around Southridge Middle School, you see shapes, figures and
angles in real life. In your classes you have been learning about the different ways you can
classify shapes, figures and angles.

If given a list of shapes, figures and angles, could you find a real-life representation of
them?
