Electrical Engineering Homework

1. This document provides the solution to a homework problem involving calculating parameters for a 20 kVA transformer equivalent model. It involves determining values such as idle admittance, equivalent core conductance, magnetizing susceptance, and short circuit impedance. 2. Given different load conditions of 20 kW, 20 kVA at a 45 degree phase angle, and 20 kVA at a -45 degree phase angle, the document calculates the complex voltage and current values for the transformer primary and secondary sides. 3. Diagrams are drawn showing the complex RMS values of voltages and currents for each load condition.

EE 3410: Homework #7 March 27, 2017

Return: March 31, 2017

Problem 1.
Calculate parameters of a 20 kVA, 480/120 V transformer equivalent model recalculated to the primary
side, if the short circuit voltage is U1sc = 7% of U1r, the short-circuit active power is Psc = 2,5% of the rated
power Sr, open circuit current, I10 = 4% of I1r, while the open circuit active power P0 = 1.5% of the rated
power Sr.
Calculate transformer supply voltage U1 needed to provide voltage U2 = 120 V to the load if the
transformer is loaded with the power
a) S2 = P2 = 20 kW
b) S2 = 20 e j45 deg kVA
c) S2 = 20 e j45 deg kVA
For each case draw the diagram of complex rms values of voltages and currents
