TCP Cost Estimator
TCP Cost Estimator
INSTRUCTIONS
The TCP Cost Estimator is a tool to help in assembling a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) cost estimate for an ODOT highway
construction project. Designers are welcome to use any part of this program to generate cost estimates for other projects. The
TCP Engineer of Record should review quantities and costs represented on this spreadsheet for accuracy.

For projects 6 months long or longer; or, that extend through winter, consider increasing quantities
where wheel paths are likely to cross pavement markings. An additional 50-100% above
calculated values is reasonable for these conditions.

Designers should consider increasing quantities where wheel paths cross the material, for projects longer than 6 months in
length, or that extend through winter months. Consider adjustments of +100% to 200% above calculated values for projects
with the above characteristics.

Temporary Protection & Direction of Traffic (TP&DT)
Project: County:
Prepared By: Date: KEY #
Review Section 00225.90(a-2) of the 2008 Standard Specifications for Construction for a list of items applicable to this Pay Item.
The TP&DT pay item predominantly includes costs associated with labor -- costs for placement, maintenance & removal of TCD
used on the project. Use the worksheet below to help determine this Lump Sum pay item amount.
When comparing the "Calculated" total with the "Percentage-based" total for TP&DT, the TCP Designer may adjust the amount
closer to one end of the range or the other, depending on the complexity of the project and the total anticipated number of traffic
control devices.
Tubular& Conical Marker MOVES (Use Worksheet Below) Each 0 $0.50 $0.00
Temp. Concrete Barrier To & From Stockpile (Includes Std. & Tall Barrier) ft 0 $5.50 $0.00
Remove Temp. Barrier from Project (Includes Std. & Tall Barrier) ft 0 $5.50 $0.00
Move "Zipper" Machine To/From Storage {Min} Lump Sum 0 $1,000.00 $0.00
TP&DT Total:
** Typically use larger of the two amounts. However, Staging complexity and project duration can affect TP&DT amounts.
Therefore, if the difference is greater than 100%, consider using the average of the two amounts.
See Section 00225.90(a-2) for other items that may be included in the TP&DT quantity.
