General Notes

The document provides general notes for reinforced concrete (RCC) structures. It specifies that concrete will be grade M25 with 25 MPa compressive strength at 28 days, machine mixed and vibrated, and water-cement ratio per mix design. Reinforcement bars are high strength steel with 415 MPa yield stress. Dimensions must be verified with architectural drawings, and discrepancies reported. Drawings are not to scale; written dimensions govern. Construction must follow relevant Indian Standard Codes of Practice. Reinforcement diameters are in millimeters. Minimum bar lap lengths follow Table A. Concrete must cure 7 days for ordinary Portland cement. Formwork removal times are provided. Clear cover to reinforcement is specified as 2 inches for footings

General Notes for RCC structure:

1) Unless otherwise noted all reinforcement concrete to be Grade M: 25 with compressive

strength of 25 N/mm2 at 28 days.
2) All. Reinforcement concrete shall be machine mixed and machine vibrated.
3) Water / Cement Ratio to be maintained as per the Concrete Mix Design.
4) Reinforcement indicated as “T” represents High Strength Deformed Steel Bars confirming to I.S.
1786 – 2008 with equivalent 0.2 percent proof stress/yield stress of 415 N/mm2
5) All dimensions to be checked and verified with relevant Architectural drawing.
6) Discrepancy if any shall be brought to the notice of consulting engineer prior to execution.
7) Drawings should not be scaled, only written dimensions are to be followed.
8) Construction should be carried out according to the relevant I.S. Code of practice.
9) Diameter of reinforcement to be used are given in M.M. (Millimetre)
10) Min. Lapping of reinforcement Bars shall be as per the Table A.
11) Concrete should be cured for at least 7 days for O.P.C. confirming to IS specification.
12) Centring may generally be removed after the following period where O.P.C is used.

a) Vertical side of columns and Beams --------- 24 to 48 Hrs.

b) Removal of Bottom under slab
i) Spanning up to 15’ --------- 7 days
ii) Spanning over 15’ --------- 14 days
iii) Cantilever Slab --------- 14 days
c) Removal of bottom under beam
i) Spanning up to 20’ --------- 14 days
ii) Spanning over 20’ --------- 21 days
iii) Cantilever beam --------- 21 days

13) Clear Cover to main steel

i) Footing ---------- 2”
ii) Column ---------- 1½”
iii) Beams and Slab ----- ¾”

14) Use Chairs and Pins to keep steel in proper position.

15) Read all the Notes Specified in the drawing issued and work should be carried out accordingly.

Following Instructions to be attended:

1) Provide proper cover to the main reinforcement in beams , slabs and Column.
2) Close gaps in formwork and shuttering.
3) Provide additional props & secure props adequately.
4) Clean the formwork for all loose foreign materials.
5) Provide chairs to the top steel in all slabs to securely hold the top reinforcement in all slabs.
6) Tie column dowels with hoop steel.
7) The reduction in column size by bending the column reinforcement should be carried out at
the bottom level itself as shown in the standard drawing.
8) Submit the steel testing report to the consulting engineer.
9) Prepare concrete Cubes for testing compressive strength @ 28 days as per I.S. 516 (1959)
and submit the report to the consulting engineer.
10) Maintain quality if concrete as specified in the drawing.
11) Column Starter.
