1 VSAT Technology
A type of two-way satellite that transmits both narrow and broadband data to satellites in orbit.
The data is then redirected to other remote terminals or hubs around the planet. VSATs are
mainly used for wireless transmission of real-time data.
These are mainly commercial satellites which are stationed on the line of equator and are made
to move on the orbit with the same speed as that of the Earth and hence seen as to be the same
position as they are looked from the Earth.
Therefore Geo-Static satellites are used for data and internet links.
Life-time of most satellite is about 10-14 Years, and as this is highly dependable on the amount
of lubricant/oil to run the motor which is carried by the satellite. The motor is used to adjust the
satellite to be at the exactly position on the orbit as designated so that there will be no need to
re-point the antenna.
Note: The lower sized dishes are mostly affected by weather conditions like rains or heavy
clouds.
Only Feedhorn is used to distinguish between these two types with the absence of circular
polarizer denotes Linear-polarized antenna whereas presence of circular polarizer denotes
the circular-polarized antenna.

ii) BUC (Block-Up Convertor) i.e. Transmitter
v) Coaxial cables (RG6, RG11, LMR400, RG213 etc) – they can be 75-Ohm or 50-Ohm cables
