2.
Objective :
1. To determine the effect of temperature on the conversion in a TFR.
Abstract :
In the experiment, we had to determine the effect temperature on the conversion in a TFR. Firstly,
performed the general start-up procedures. Next, adjusted the valves to be about 0.15 l/min at flow meter
1 and flow meter 2.Both flow rate should be the same. Then, we recorded the flow rates. The setpoint is
at 40ºC. To ensure the reactor has reached the steady,we started monitoring the conductivity values and
temperature until they do not change over time. Then, start recording the inlet and outlet steady state
conductivity values and the water jacket temperature. By using different setpoint by increasing 5 oC the
temperature such as 45ºC, 50ºC,55ºC. Both solution have to be maintained at 0.15 l/min. From the
calibration curve, find the concentration of NaOH exiting the reactor the extent of conversion.
Introduction: In the most of industrial chemical processes, the reactor is the key equipment in
which raw materials are changed into desired products. The design and operation of
chemical reactor are important in order to make the process success.Understanding
on how the reactor works is necessary for the proper control of a reaction
system.basically there are two main groups of reactors, batch reactors and
continuous flow reactors.Tubular flow reactor has been designed for
students’experiments on chemical reactions in liquid phase under isothermal and
adiabatic conditions.the unit comes complete with a jacketed plug flow
reactor, individual reactant feed tank and pumps, temperature sensors and
conductivity measuring sensor.
