Internship Report: Cosmological Models of The Universe

This internship report summarizes Shreya Shah's work on cosmological models of the universe during the summer of 2018 under the supervision of Dr. Gaurav Goswami at Ahmedabad University. The report introduces cosmological models as mathematical descriptions of the dynamics and evolution of the universe over time, based on observations, that can be used to make predictions. It notes that the universe is observed to be approximately homogenous and isotropic over large spatial distances.

Summer 2018
1. Introduction
Cosmological models are the mathematical description of the dynamics and evolution of
the universe over time. They are based on direct observations and can be used to make
predictions that can be confirmed by further investigations. The universe is observed to
be approximately homogenous and isotropic over subsequently large spatial distances of
several hundred megaparsecs. This isotropic and homogenous universe is capable of
contracting and expanding depending on the parameters R0
