Tutorial 2: Creating your first Project

About This Tutorial

This tutorial builds on the first one, so please make sure that you have read and completed
Tutorial 1 before continuing.
Lesson 1: The Elements of a VST plugin window
In this lesson you will have a look at the four main elements of a VST plugin window. You will
learn more about the other elements of a VST plugin window later on. You will be referring to
these elements a lot during this tutorial – so it would be helpful for you to know of these now.
Of these elements, the most important is the Sidebar – as it contains, among other things – the
panels. Of these the most important are the Audio routing panel and the Snapshots panel.

Lesson 2: The Sidebar Arrows

The arrows contained in the Sidebar are “toggles” – that is, they allow you to switch between
the closed and open states of a panel. The following diagram is an example of the closed and
open states of a Sidebar panel.
Tutorial 2: Creating your first Project
Other terms for these are collapse and expand. A horizontal arrow means that the panel is
closed – or collapsed, and a vertical arrow means that the panel is open – or expanded. You will
refer to this behavior as simply collapsing or expanding the [name] panel – in the above
example, this would be the Audio panel. You will have the opportunity of practicing and testing
this feature out for yourself in a moment.
Section A: Adding a plugin
In this section of the tutorial, you will add a plugin to the current project.
1. Launch LiveProfessor.
2. Go to Add unit.
Observation: The Add unit dialog is displayed.

2. In the Outputs section of this panel, select 01 - Not connected.

Observation: A pop-up menu is displayed listing the various outputs that are available to you.
