4. QAE (if posted at site) shall witness ‘A’ category checks. He is also authorized to carry out
surveillance in any of B & C category of checks at his discretion.
5. BHEL shall ensure that instruments with valid calibration are used for measurement.
6. Quantum of check shall be 100% for all characteristics unless otherwise mentioned in QP.

BEFORE BOXING UP (FINAL ASSY. OF TOP HALF END SHIELDS & MANHOLE CLOSING) OF GENERATOR,
CHECK THE FOLLOWING :

1. Overhang portion of stator winding is clean and free from
any foreign material like dust, oil/water and tools.
2. Cleaning of stator casing including end shield area for
water/oil, dust, foreign material.
3. Cleaning of gas cooling duct/canal for water/oil, dust and
foreign material.
4. Cleaning of all casing drain pipes.
5. Recheck locking of all the approachable fasteners on
stator winding overhang & rotor etc.
6. Ensure through-ness of all drain holes provided on the
end-shield as per drawing.
7. Check proper dimension of all grooves provided on the
endshield.
8. Ensure proper location of flange connection on the end
shield with openings on seal body like ring relief oil supply,
oil drain and seal oil supply.
9. Ensure assembly of all plugs provided on end shield as
per drawing.
10. Check that all fasteners of stator / end shield joints, end
shield parting plane joints and insert cover fasteners are
properly tightened and lock washers locked properly.
11. Assembly of insert cover supports have been completed
as per drawing & its lock washers locked.
12. All dowel pins from inside of generator to be removed from
position.
13. Inspection of individual cooler for proper cleanliness
before insertion if sent separately / removed at site.
