Bill of Quantities for works (BOQ)
A. A. Preamble
1. The Bill of Quantities shall be read in conjunction with the Instruction to Bidders, General and
Special Conditions of Contract, Technical Specifications and Drawings.
2. The quantities given in the Bill of Quantities are approximate and provisional, which are given
to provide a common basis for making payment for works. Actual quantities of work are likely
to increase or decrease as per the requirement at site. Hence there is no claim for any additional
or less quantities than the specified in the BOQ.
3. The rates in the Bill of Quantities shall, except insofar as it is otherwise provided under the
Contract, include all construction plant, labour, supervision, materials, erection, transportation,
maintenance, insurance, administrative overheads, profit, taxes and duties, together with all
general risks, liabilities and obligations set out or implied in the Contract.
4. The Bidder shall indicate the unit rate and line total on the Total Estimate Bid Amount, which
shall be applicable on each item of the Bill of Quantities, whether quantities are stated or not.
5. General directions and description of work and materials are not necessarily repeated nor
summarized in the Bill of Quantities. The whole cost of complying with the provisions of the
Contract shall be included in the items provided in the Bill of Quantities. References to the
relevant sections of the contract documentation shall be made before entering prices against
each item in the Bill of Quantities.

the bid will be disqualified from participation in the financial bid.
