Lesson-Exemplar - Mathematics

This document provides a lesson exemplar template for an 8th grade mathematics lesson on parallel and perpendicular lines. The lesson aims to develop 21st century skills like critical thinking and problem solving. Students will identify the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines and write equations of lines. Through an activity identifying slopes of lines plotted on a graph, students explore and explain the characteristics of parallel and perpendicular lines. They then work in groups to write equations of lines meeting given conditions and present their solutions. The lesson concludes by evaluating students' abilities to write equations of lines satisfying specified criteria.
