3. Financial Information
3.1. Forecasts: Budgeted/Projected

We want to grow financially, mainly through cash flow and equity. We recognize that this means
we will have to grow more gradually than we projected.

We will develop a permanent systems of receivables financing, using one of the established
accounting systems. In turn we intend to ensure that our investors are compatible with our
growth plan, management style and vision.

Compatibility in this regard means:

a) A fundamental respect for giving our customers value, and for maintaining a healthy and
friendly workplace.
b) Respect for realistic forecasts, and conservative cash flow and financial management.
c) Cash flow as first priority, growth second and profits third.
d) Willingness to follow the project objectives and contribute valuable input to strategy and
implementation decisions.

With sufficient working capital the forecasted revenues and sales should be within the forecasted
market demands for the company’s services. From the second year onwards, the business will
generate adequate sales revenues.

3.1.1. Key Assumptions

Interest rates and the tax rate reflect the current economic environment that De Jager Plot Seeis
will operate within. We assume no major economic recession in the near future, and that no bad
effects of global warming which may negatively affect business operations on which we rely on
for profit.

3.1.2. Sales Projections

Vicky de Jager will generate revenue by operating an existing butchery on a plot and capitalize
on pig and goat farming, auction events, camping sites, kiosk, poultry breeding, prickly pear
plantation, kalbasse cultivation and wood cutting. Such activities will enable her to repay back
the Loan facility and create much needed employment opportunities for the local community.

Our ongoing marketing drive will thus continuously be being followed to ensure that we increase
our business by getting more and more clients, and expanding our market operations thereby
creating employment, contributing to the national fiscus through paying rates and taxes.

Business Plan
3.1.3. Income Projections: Profit/Loss

Additional direct cost of sales reflects the costs of fuel, raw materials and order fulfillment
processes. Gross margins are based on the industry markup for the provisions of these products.

Marketing expenses will be higher in the first year of expansion as we opt to capture significant
market segment and will drop after that. Most expenses will show small increases each year as
the business will remain in the same location over the first three years. Profit will rise sharply
over the first three years as sales are spread over these relatively stable expenses.

The most important assumption in the Projected Profit and Loss statement is the gross margin.
In summary, the business will develop its customer base and reputation and the growth will pick
up more rapidly towards the second and third years of business.

3.1.4. Break-Even Analysis

Our break-even analysis will be based on running costs. The running cost is the costs we shall
incur in keeping the business running, including salaries and wages, rent, vehicle and computer
maintenance costs, water and electricity, insurance amongst others. Hence many fixed costs shall
be included in these costs. We will thus ensure that our sales levels are running comfortably
above break-even.

3.1.5. Cash Flow Projections

Upon acquisitions of the required fund, the first several months of expanding our operation will
be of critical importance to De Jager Plot Seeis, and we will be paying special attention to the
cash flows. De Jager Plot Seeis anticipates on generating and maintaining continuous sufficient
healthy cash balances trough maintaining a relations with Natal Self Service, Chelseas T/A
Windhoek Truckpot, Namibia Fresh Produce Market, Die Groentemandjie and Katutura Auctions.

4. Marketing Plan
4.1. Industry Analysis
4.1.1. SWOT Analysis

As an agricultural project, we look forward to maximizing our strength and opportunities and also
to work around our weaknesses and threats. Here is a summary from the result of the SWOT
analysis that was conducted on behalf of De Jager Plot Seeis;

De Jager Plot Seeis

Page 13
De Jager Plot Seeis
Business Plan
 Strength:

Our strength as a value addition farming business is the fact that we have healthy relationships
with loads of major players (agriculture merchants) in farming industry, both suppliers and buyers
within Namibia. Our existing clients include; Natal Self Service, Chelseas T/A Windhoek Truckpot,
Namibia Fresh Produce Market, Die Groentemandjie and Katutura Auctions

We are proposing to be a member of an organization called N-Big which specialize in De-bushing

Advisory Services. It also have many members and they will help sell our services and products.

We have some of the latest value addition farming machines, tools and equipment that will help
us produce in commercial quantities with less stress. Aside from our relationship (network) and
equipment, we can confidently boast that we have some of the most experienced hands in value
addition farming industry under our payroll.

This business has come at a time when our country is faced with one of the worst dry spell in its
history. This is the time the Government is calling on farmers to adopt a Climate resilient
approach to farming.

Vicky de Jager is commencing its operations in the area strategically well-located. A competent,
well-motivated, disciplined and well-trained work force is another source of strength for this
farm, and we will be ready to deliver our best at all the time.

 Weakness:

Our weakness could be that we may not have the required cash to pump into the publicity of our
business. We are aware of this and from our projection will overcome this weakness with time
and turn it to a major advantage for the business.

 Opportunities

The opportunities that are available to us as an agricultural project cannot be quantified, we

know that there are loads of people, and industries that will source for our produces, and also
industries that will source for the raw materials from our self-reliance and value-addition plot.

With the current draught, we are aware that the Office of the Prime Minister and private entities
are unable to find prickly pear and kalbasse in Namibia to supply to those in need. It has to be
imported from other countries. This is an opportunity because there is an existing purchasing
system already by the state from farmers (producers). We will position ourselves to fill this gap
and minimize reliance on import of the prickly pear and kalbasse.

De Jager Plot Seeis

Page 14
De Jager Plot Seeis
Business Plan
 Threat

Some of the threats and challenges that we are likely going to face are global economic downturn
that can impact negatively on household spending, bad weather and natural disasters (draughts,
epidemics), unfavorable government policies and the arrival of a competitor (a commercial farm
that rear same produce) as our agricultural project within same location. There is hardly anything
you can do as regards this threats and challenges other than to be optimistic that things will
continue to work for our good.

4.1.2. Potential Markets and Market Share Estimates

One of the common trends in the commercial value addition farming’s line of business is that
most players in the industry are no longer concentrating only on farming a particular type of crop,
fruit, vegetable or livestock alone. They now find it easier to run a varieties of productions. Some
even go ahead to include processing plant (produce production and packaging) business
alongside their product offerings. This helps them to maximize profits in the agriculture industry.
This is what De Jager Plot Seeis is going to do.

For example, Vicky de Jager has setforth some short and long-term goals that will serve as an
operating and policy guide for De Jager Plot Seeis. The short-term goals entails operating an
existing butchery on a plot, pig and goat farming, auction events, camping sites, kiosk, poultry
breeding, prickly pear plantation, kalbasse cultivation and wood cutting. Such activities will
enable her to repay back the Loan facility and create much needed employment opportunities
for the local community.

Despite the fact that value addition farming has been in existence since time immemorial that
does not in any way make the industry to be over saturated, for example commercial green
scheme projects are now exploring new technology to continue to improve value addition
farmings processes and also preservation and packaging process. The fact that there is always a
ready market for commercial self-reliance and value-addition farming makes the business ever
green.

As a matter of fact, one of the new trends in value addition farming industry is that with the
recent advancement in technology self-reliance and value-addition farmers can now improve the
various crops, fruits and vegetables they are producing and livestock they are farming. As a
matter of fact, it is now easier for self-reliance and value-addition farmers to comfortably use the
kind of seeds of crops, fruits and vegetables they want to produce and also advancement in
technology has made it easier to do value addition farming.

There is a growing demand for goats and piggery meat, chicken meat and eggs, prickly pear
plantation and kalbasse cultivation as well as camping and wood cutting in the region where the

business is located as well as surrounding areas. The opportunity is also attributed to factors such
as the growth in population, rising income levels, growing middle income group and increasing
urbanization which stirs a demand in the main town centers.

The increase in auction events, campers, kiosks, fresh produce supermarkets, cafeterias and
restaurants also signifies the business opportunity. Other issues that signify the business include
the current food security concerns and intensified Rural Development. Vicky de Jager endeveour
also to supply schools, Army Bases, Police, Prisons, e.t.c., with most of our products.

Namibian encroacher bush offers numerous end use opportunities through value addition. The
availability of such wood from encroacher bush has promoted the development of different value
added products for Namibia. There are number of common products that can be made and these
ranges from firewood, animal feed and charcoal. These products are being utilized for heating
and cooking. Firewood is one of the most common uses in towns at braais and catering events.

Other products such as charcoal and animal feed are more commercially promising, with charcoal
placing Namibia on top of the export range. A survey on bush-based fodder production revealed
that about 12 farmers in Namibia are currently producing for subsistence use and emergency
feed. Namibia is the fifth charcoal exporter worldwide, exporting about 37 percent of wood
charcoal. Henceforth, Vicky de Jager will capitalize on this opportunity.

4.1.3. Market Segments

It is a known fact that the target market of those who are the end consumers of our produce in
any form and those who benefit from the business value chain is all encompassing. Almost every
household consumes these farming produces in different forms. In essence a self-reliance and
value-addition farmer should be able to sell his or her farm produce to as many people as possible
including production companies that make use of prickly pear and kalbasse, livestock farming
produce, fire wood e.t.c. as raw materials.

The market for our farming produce, such as prickly pear and kalbasse, pig, goats and chicken
meat, wood cutting and camping site is broad and can be segmented into corporate and
individual consumers. The business can anticipate a market from medium to high income earners
as these purchase the farm produce for personal home consumption as well as for occasions such
as weddings, braais, workshops, funerals, meetings, family gatherings and other social events.

The corporate market segment consists of auction events, campers, kiosks, fresh produce
supermarkets, cafeterias and restaurants. Agro-processors form an essential part of the
corporate market. Key buyers of the farm produce within the corporate arena include abattoirs,
butcheries, retailers and wholesalers.

The Government in terms of Municipalities, Government Departments and other Government
bodies also fall under this category. The wider private and public sector form part of the market
for the farm produce. This market segment usually procures by means of tenders or agreed upon
contracts. The quantities involved are usually much higher than those requested by individual
consumers. While corporate consumers usually procure their products in large quantities, some
delay in terms of payment and can be very particular about quality standards and other issues
pertaining to conformity.

The selection of a suitable target market for De Jager Plot Seeis is imperative to the attainment
of profitability, competitiveness and sustainability for the business. Essential factors such as the
ability of the entity to meet the needs, requirements and preferences of the market segments
were considered. Other determining factors such as the profitability, growth, growth potential,
size and risks of the market segments were also considered.

4.1.4. Competition and/or Substitute Products

The truth is that, it is easier to find entrepreneurs flocking towards an industry that is known to
generate consistent income which is why there are people capitalizing on farming activities in
Namibia and of course in most parts of the world.

As a matter of fact, entrepreneurs are encouraged by the Government to embrace value addition
farming which is rare especially in Namibia. This is so because part of the success of any nation is
her ability to cultivate her own food and also export foods and value added products to other
nations of the world.

De Jager Plot Seeis is fully aware that there are competitions when it comes to selling value
addition farming produce, which is why we decided to carry out thorough research so as to know
how to take advantage of the available market in Namibia.

We have done our homework and we have been able to highlight some factors that will give us
competitive advantage in the marketplace, some of the factors are effective and reliable self-
reliance and value-addition farming processes that can help us sell our produce at competitive
prices, good network and excellent relationship management.

Lastly, our employees will be well taken care of, and their welfare package will be among the best
within our category (commercial self-reliance and value-addition farms) in the industry meaning
that they will be more than willing to build the business with us, help deliver our set goals and
achieve all our aims and objectives.

4.2. Marketing Strategy

4.2.1. Product Strategy

We are quite aware that the reason why some commercial agricultural projects hardly make good
profits is their inability to sell off their produce to a larger market. In view of that, we decided to
have loyal clients to buy from us which includes; Natal Self Service, Chelseas T/A Windhoek
Truckpot, Namibia Fresh Produce Market, Die Groentemandjie and Katutura Auction.

Our goal is to grow De Jager Plot Seeis to become the leading agricultural project in Khomas
Region and the surrounding which is why we have mapped out strategy that will help us take
advantage of the available market and grow to become a major force to reckon within the
farming industry.

4.2.2. Pricing Strategy

We are aware that if you want to get the right pricing for your produce, then you should ensure
that you choose a good location for your value addition farming, choose a good varieties of
produces that will guarantee steady and multiple income stream, cut the cost of running your
farm to the barest minimum and of course try as much as possible to attract buyers to your farm
as against taking your produce to the market to source for buyers, with this, you would have
successfully eliminate the cost of transporting the goods to the market and other logistics.

So also, we are quite conversant that one of the easiest means of penetrating the market and
acquiring loads of customers for all our produce is to sell them at competitive prices hence we
will do all we can to ensure that the prices of our processed and packaged produce are going to
be what other commercial self-reliance and value-addition farmers would look towards beating.

One thing is certain, the nature of commercial value addition farming we are involved in makes
it possible for farmers to place prices for their farm produce based on their discretion without

in terms of seeds, manure, irrigation system, vaccines, pest control and others.

5.4. Organizations of Operations and Output

5.4.1. Irrigation Systems

5.4.1.1. Drip Irrigation System

Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and
nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface
or buried below the surface. The goal is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize
evaporation.

Drip irrigation system will be mainly used to irrigate trees. The water drips gently out of the pipe
onto a designated location.

5.4.1.2. Sprinkler Irrigation System

Sprinkler irrigation is a method of applying irrigation water which is similar to natural

rainfall. Water is distributed through a system of pipes usually by pumping. It is then sprayed into
the air through sprinklers so that it breaks up into small water drops which fall to the ground.
Sprinkler irrigation system will be used to irrigate agricultural crops, crops, fruits and vegetables.

5.4.2. Manure Systems

The types of manure systems we are going to use are the combinations of animal manure,
compost and green manure. Animal manure, such as chicken manure and cow dung, has been

De Jager Plot Seeis

used for centuries as a fertilizer for farming. It can improve the soil structure (aggregation) so
that the soil holds more nutrients and water, and therefore becomes more fertile. Animal manure
also encourages soil microbial activity which promotes the soil's trace mineral supply, improving
plant nutrition. It also contains some nitrogen and other nutrients that assist the growth of
plants. Compost is the decomposed remnants of organic materials. It is usually of plant origin,
but often includes some animal dung or bedding.

Green manures are crops grown for the express purpose of plowing them in, thus increasing
fertility through the incorporation of nutrients and organic matter into the soil. Leguminous
plants such as clover are often used for this, as they fix nitrogen using Rhizobia bacteria in
specialized nodes in the root structure.

5.4.3. Vaccinations and Pest Control

5.4.3.1. Animal Vaccinations

De Jager Plot Seeis will increase immunity in animals by prompting immune system through

and welfare by playing a vital role in preventative health and disease control programmes in
animals.

5.4.3.2. Crops Pest Control

Pests pose the serious threat to plant. There are many different kinds of pests including fungus,
mosquitoes, flies, rats, fleas, termites, feral dogs. De Jager Plot Seeis will engage into a complete
control of crop pests and subsequent elimination of pesticide by using pest control.

technology.

5.6. Other Relevant Information

De Jager Plot Seeis recognizes the fact that it is involved in the agricultural sector of the overall
economy and there is a need to be involved in a wide range of social responsibility engagement
programmes so as to invest back into the community in which we operate. We believe that
through our social responsibility programme we can indeed assist in improving people’s lives. We
believe that if we are to contribute to development in a sustainable way, we need to support
numerous projects.

However, before we commit ourselves to projects we intend to ensure that they will be beneficial
to the community, particularly in the long term. We know that we cannot address all the
development needs of our society. Where we can, we assist and sometimes may form
partnerships so as to increase capacity.

One of the ways the company intends to be involved in corporate social responsibility is through
Donating meat to School hostels such as, Witvlei Hostel and organizing cleaning campaigns with
various communities.

Basically this will involve briefing the community on the advantages of having a clean
environment, now and in future. In order to entice the community to get involved in these
campaigns, as well as to increase awareness about our business and services we intend to give
out T-shirts and caps with our company name. These campaigns will also assist in us being
perceived and appreciated as a good corporate citizen.
