Player Code of Conduct

Each athlete and parent/guardian is expected to read the following team policies. All athletes will be held to the
following. Any violation of these rules will result in penalties issued by the coaches and/or
captains. Remember, playing football is a privilege, not a right, and each athlete must adhere to the following
team policies.

• Don’t do anything to embarrass the program, your family, your community or yourself.
• Take responsibility for your behavior/actions.
• Treat your superiors (administrators, coaches, teachers, and school staff) with respect.
• Treat your fellow classmates with the same respect, as you would wish upon yourself. Do not put
yourself in a position to get in trouble.
• Players are expected to go to all of their classes. Truancy will not be tolerated. Consequences for missing
class will be up to the coaches. This will include additional exercise, loss of playing time, suspension, or
dismissal from team.
• Missing classes on Gameday will result in loss of playing time, possible suspension.
• Excessive tardiness to class will result in a loss of starting position, playing time or suspension from the
team.
• The team goal is a 3.0 GPA. All players below the team goal must attend study hall each Monday
throughout the following term. Study hall will be held year-round.
• Suspended players must attend all team practices and functions and be in high academic standing in
order to return from suspension.
• All players should dress appropriately and follow school dress code. Show pride for your school and
status as a football player. Other students look up to you and will follow in your footsteps, so set the
standard!
• All players are expected to be at practice on time, team meetings and bus trips. Players who are late will
be subject to consequences similar to truancy. On bus trips you will be left.
• Please inform the Head Coach of any possible absences that may arise. We encourage all players to
attend practice 100% of the time; your playing time is evaluated based on practice attendance, work
ethic, and performance. Any appointments and work should be scheduled around practice times. If you
are to miss practice for any reason the possibility of losing a starting position or reduced playing time
will result. There are situations that cannot be controlled, this will be considered, but must be
communicated to the head coach.
• Missing practice without notifying the head coach ahead of time will result in a one game suspension. If
the problem persists, the player will be removed from the team.
• The use of inappropriate language or any unsportsmanlike gestures or conduct is unacceptable and
strictly prohibited. The use of inappropriate language or any unsportsmanlike gestures or conduct
toward a coach or any school employees will result in immediate discipline and possible suspension
from the program.
• All players are responsible for the care and upkeep of the equipment provided. Improper care or loss of
equipment will result in fees toward replacement. Do not share or alter equipment!
• Keep the locker room clean. If it is not being taken care of, you will lose the privilege of using it.
Playing Time
Each athlete has an important role on the team, whether as a starter or a backup. Please be mindful and
respectful of everyone’s role on the team. We all contribute to the success and failure of our team regardless of
rank. Playing time is earned by showing competency in the skills being taught, work ethic during practice,
knowledge of the position(s), attendance, attitude, and behavior. Not everyone can be a starter. Everyone
develops at a different rate. Set realistic goals for yourself and work hard to achieve them. Depending on your
commitment and dedication, you set the standard for being a starting player. If you cannot meet these
standards, it may affect your ability to start. Each practice, your performance is evaluated by the coaching staff
and can determine what your position and playing time may be in future games. At the sub-varsity levels, all
players, who have attended all practices, will play. We are here to develop all players to help us at the varsity
level in the future. However, the amount of time each player gets is not equal.

Personal Issues
Football has an intense and emotional environment where tempers may flare. If you have an issue with your
status on the team please do not feel intimidated to approach any of the coaches on staff. If there are any other
personal issues, outside of football, that may be a reflection of your attendance or performance, please feel free
to discuss this with any coach. We are here for you not only as coaches, but mentors, and will do what we can to
help make your time here memorable. We respect all athletes and are committed to treat them with dignity and
respect.

"I/we have read the above statement and understand the rules and procedures
set forth by the Logan football staff".

Parental Code of Conduct
The most competitive sport today is parenting. Some parents seek validation of status through their
child's performance. We want to avoid this. We as coaches understand the investments made by you and your
child, through money and time. We understand the high expectations you have for your child, but we need to
make sure that your child's expectations and needs are priority.

The primary responsibility and purpose of the program is to build men of character who demonstrate
empathy, integrity, responsibility and leadership so they can influence their community in a positive way.
Football is our vessel. For the team to function at its absolute best, there must be trust between the parents,
players and coaches.
• I understand and endorse the purpose of the program, “We build men of character. We demonstrate
empathy, integrity, responsibility and leadership so we can influence our community in a positive
way.”
• I will make grades and attendance as high of a priority as playing time and performance.
• I will support the coaches by applauding behavior in my child and my child's teammates that
demonstrates characteristics of integrity, empathy, sacrifice, and responsibility.
• I will acknowledge and appreciate my child’s growth in maturity, and developing stronger relationships
with his teammates, coaches, and self.
• I will applaud my son when character, sportsmanship, and other appropriate behavior is displayed.
• I will not only support my son’s athletic performance or victory.
• I will serve as a role model by acting courteous to other players, coaches, parents, officials, and
opposing team.
• I will model good sportsmanship, acknowledge and applaud efforts of team members and opponents.
• I will graciously accept defeat by congratulating players and parents of the opposing team on a game
well played.
• I will support the team regardless of how much or how little my son plays or what the win/lose record
is. There is no place for selfishness on a team.
• I will encourage my son and his teammates with positive statements even when there are mistakes.
• I understand that these players are growing mentally and emotionally everyday through learning moral
and ethical lessons at practice.
• When problems or questions arise, I will have my son present them to his position coach, leadership
council or the head coach first. We want our players to develop self-advocacy. If the issue requires more
clarity, I will contact the head coach.
• I understand I will not be able to drive my son home after an event unless I have cleared it with the
head coach.
• I understand my son will be removed from the team for not following team rules or for not attending
practices or games without prior approval from the head coach and will not be refunded any fees paid
or funds raised.
• I understand that if my son misses practice without notifying the head coach, he will be suspended one
game.
• When failing to live up to this code of conduct, I will have accountability and take responsibility for my
actions.
Because I am a parent with the power and platform to make a positive influence in the lives of
every player on the team, I commit to this code of conduct.

Side Note: The recruiting process can be frustrating at times because college coaches very seldom give entirely truthful evaluations.
We understand the more investment you put in your child, such as personal training sessions and recruiting services, the more results
you expect. We as coaches will do everything in our power to provide information and film to football programs all over the country
for those student athletes that fit the academic and character standards necessary. However, no one can guarantee scholarships,
anyone suggesting they can is taking advantage of you.
