I applied in December for big-data architect, for a booking.com, Peru vine untaaru and good part is I got through, I had a

location constraint and also salary constraint, relocation allowance was bad, so did not pursue further...this is just to brush
up my skills..
1) They have sent me a python coding test, hacker rank medium, 2 problems time limit 60. I submitted both of them
Then. onsite,
coding questions on pandas, numpy. different concepts and I have run the examples, data frames, multi index etc., this
was ok, coudnot answer for few but overall good interview.
2) Design interview with use case.Luckily this is about choosing right database, in this case it was hbase, I have extensive
experience working on it, so it literally teared the interview, Hbase vs Neo4j why I chose hbase , features etc. why not
impala, etc. How can we process graph data structure using spark (we have graph frames) etc,
3) Execution model of spark ...

4) how do design a streaming service...which I guess I answered in bits and pieces...
5) how do you implement security of the cluster, how do you authenticate etc.,
6) Compression teqniques etc, how do you design by micro services etc..
This interview is driven by me, I mean I touched upon many many aspects and driven the interview there...
Overall it was good but salary hike was not big, I even had to lose my year end bonus if I join, no joining bonus etc

yes true..young age makes sense..also middleage for 5-6yrs move into FAANG companies..mint as much as possible and
then move back to midwest or eastcoast located company..and spend ur lif with good salary and decent savings, no
mortgage hassle..kaani ee option kastam, esp for people who spend their life in west coast and FAANG like companies they
might have an inherent feeling of loss and dissatisfaction with the kind of work they get , relative slowness and also might
miss all the exposure and interactions they have....again not generalizing but aa possibilty undi antuna..

or tools, you look at things holistically

For management roles AFAIK, System design is a must pass interview in all cloud companies.
Coding is a must in Google and FB. Amazon I got believe they do coding for manager roles.

platforms showed up with their own weaknesses..
Not really. I used to think like you earlier. It all depends on company you are interviewing for. For ex: All massive cloud
scale companies like Twitter, FB, Google, Amazon etc want to see how quickly and optimally you can code with no errors.
Reason is very simple, a very small programming error will lead to millions of loss for them.
Also, the scale of problems they see is different from many traditional companies. Your solution should be quick and
optimal.
They spend millions of dollars just to research on how optimally they can use every CPU cycle and every bit of memory. So
they cannot tolerate any minute programming errors.

Me: Took 10 mins and had a class ready. started executing the TCs, went well
Int: Can you execute with negative step ?

Me: Tried gave wrong result. Modified it, this time went well, total over 20 mins
Int:Can you construct a logic which fill find sum of n natural numbers without using formula
Me: Did through recursion (in 5 mins), using tail recursion, explained the diff
Int: Can you try for 1100 ?

Me: Gave max fetch depth error, modified and did through while loop , now went fine (10 mins)
Int:"a" number of people go and meet and meet "m" number of people, they become a^m number of people, this happens
K times..how do you find the total num of people at the end of k interactions, start with k=1
Me: did a solution with O(logm), he felt satisfied, but could not extend to K iterations...(15 mins)
remarks --> Good with Python, and data structures

Coding can be more clean, need to come up more robust algorithms and test cases. Practise more problem solving..
Me: What are my chances with similar performance in twitter

Int: Depends on the interviewer and role, I would have tested with a NP Completeness problem and if you could clear that
passed you to next round. I mean I am interested in trees and pattern matching which we could not cover here. For now I
can say it was just touch and go , not a strong Yes.
Me: Whats your suggestion to improve?

Int: Please read algorithm design manual by skeina, it might help you.
Me: Thanks (potaavu ra rey potaav in my mind)
