This document provides a 3 question assignment on digital signal processing concepts for an engineering class. It directs students to bring required materials to class on September 19th to complete and submit the assignment, which involves: 1) using linearity to evaluate a 4-point DFT, 2) determining a sequence from its 10-point DFT, and 3) explaining properties of the DFT like periodicity and Parsval's theorem. Students must submit the completed assignment in class for credits.

EC 301 DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING

Assignment No.: 2 Class: ECE-5-A batch Date of submission: 19-9-2019

================================================================

1. State the linearity property of DFT and use the same to evaluate the

4-point DFT of x ( n )=cos ( πn4 )+ sin ( πn4 )

2. Let X (e jω ) represents the DTFT of x ( n )=( 0.5 )n u ( n ) . Let s(n) is a sequence of
length N=10. The 10-point DFT of s(n) is denoted as S ( k ) ; for 0≤ k ≤ 9. If S ( k )
corresponds to the 10 equally spaced samples of X (e jω ), i.e.

S ( k ) =X ( e jω )∨¿ 2 πk ¿ . Determine s ( n ) .
ω=
10

3. State and explain the periodicity, symmetric, time reversal and Parsval’s
(inner product) properties of DFT.

Note: All the students are directed to bring one copy of this question paper,
favorite text books on DSP, calculator, paper, writing materials etc. to the class
on 19-9-2019, Thursday to complete and submit the assignment on the same
day as a class work. No credits will be given otherwise.
